Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Dottie and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations. At 0725hrs Bravo Company 39 Engineer at BS612897 mine sweep team received 10 to 15 rounds sniper fire with no casualties or damage. At 0940hrs Brigade and Battalion Command and Control helicopters engaged 2 VC evading with results 1 VC KIA and 1 VC CIA will evac to LZ Bronco Change that to 2 KIA WIA had died. At 1135hrs General Cooksey Aid reports Vehicle traveling highway south of LZ Dottie overturned, negative injuries. Bravo 39 Engineer sending recovery vehicle out tonight. At 1450hrs 11 Brigade Message to 1-20 Infantry TOC be prepared to conduct a Battalion size operation on 23 October 1968 the LZ will be in grid BS6155. You will be relieved of the Area of Operation during the Operation and return to Chu Lai Area of Operation at the completion.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
October 21, 1968
At 0820hrs Alpha Company at BS504866 spotted 15 personnel running across rice paddy checking out area at this time. At 0924hrs Alpha Company conducted Combat Assault from BS502862 to BS544865 PZ 0812hrs and last LZ at 0820hrs. At 0925hrs Command and Control Helicopter 1-20 Infantry engaged 2 VC that were evading with results 1 VC WIA CIA and will evac to LZ Dottie for questioning. At 1022hrs Alpha Company vicinity BS502863 1 VC KIA, no ID, wearing black shirt and trousers was in a spider hole with a false cover had with him one plastic rain jacket and a chance of cloth approximately 20 years old. At 1245hrs Alpha Company center of mass saturation patrolling is at BS535864. At 1825hrs Alpha Company established their Night Defense Position at BS545845.
Bravo Company

At 0805hrs Bravo Company conducts a Combat Assault from BS503864 to BS837856 1st PZ 0734hrs and last LZ at 0845hrs. At 1245hrs Bravo Company center of mass BS547847 conducting saturation patrolling and moving to BS553838 and at 1825hrs made it their Night Defense Position. At 1945hrs Bravo Company at BS553836 received 3 M-39 rounds and return fire with results 1 US WIA (M).
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dottie and will have 1 roving patrol with checkpoints.
Delta Company
October 21, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Buff. At 1935hrs Delta Company night activity was their roving patrols with checkpoints, center of mass BS5367.
Echo Company
October 21, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Dottie where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Dottie. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Dottie where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Dottie.
