Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0640hrs the TMF at 0631hrs String 70 was activated by a Stationary target with no metal detected and had negative clearance given. At 0647hrs The Battalion Commander at grid BS754443 picked up 1 male detainee wearing all purple, age 45 and had an ID. He was evading and evac to Liz and he was released. At 0745hrs Delta Company 71 and the Charlie Company 26 Engineer our work location is at BS735805 and now moving to that location. At 1730hrs S5 report I-20 Infantry Brigade S5 targeted PSYOPS with a VIP leaflet drop at BS7457 with 28000 leaflets. Also the 30 LF was target with a leaflet drop of 37,000 at BS6950. Vietnamese personnel turned into Charlie Company at BS734467 a total of 1,100 Vietnamese VIP funds from Battalion, At LZ Dragon HHC and SP4 Michael Tetu paid out 1,200Vietnamese. At 1735hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer a total of 27 hours were worked clearing 29 acres at BS733602, BS736603, BS735607 and BS731609, we destroyed 1 booby trap (a small can with shrapnel and smoke grenade firing device). 1 pound of C4 was used with 3 D7 operational and 1 D7 deadline with a bad track and both CEV are deadline 1 with a transmission and 1 with a master relay damaged. At 1925hrs Battalion S-5 asked Brigade for a broadcast team to make a tape about the Chieu Hoi to be used over the area of the 4 Chieu Hoi.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. Headquarters and Headquarter Company reports that PFC Jesse Annucciation and PFC Edwin Adrion where evac to the 91st Evac Hospital sick.
Alpha Company

Alpha continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road Security. At 1832hrs the 23, 73, 93 elements are in location on the Access Road.
Bravo Company
June 21, 1970
At 005hrs Bravo Company the 73 element had closed with one detainee who was picked up at BS758458, 50, and the 183 PF have him for questioning. At 0635hrs Bravo Company conducts Combat Assault of Bravo 31 and 21 elements the PZ was at BS783430 at 0630hrs and the 31a LZ was at BS723437 at 0635hrs the 31 element was at BS722435, and the 21a LZ was at BS723434 and the 21 element was at BS724434. At 0659hrs Bravo Company the 75 element pick up one male detainee at BS758458 and he was evac to Military Intelligence. At 0820hrs Bravo Company 21 element is at BS753437 where they picked up 2 Vietnamese females, one with no ID and one with ID suspected of being false and will be sent to Military Intelligence. At 1650hrs Bravo Company Dust Off completed for one PF with a 45 Cal gunshot wounds to the left side of the abdomen at grid BS771461, it is unknown how the wound was received, completed at 1656hrs. At 1710hrs Bravo Company at BS743639 where they found several bunkers and fighting positions on a trail running northwest along the bottom of a ridge line, we will call in artillery tonight.
Charlie Company

At 1200hrs Charlie Company 71 element is running a VIP Program at BS756466, the 22 snake will be at BS754572, and BS764573. At 1855hrs Charlie Company the 21 element pick up one Chieu Hoi approximately 47 years old at BS749457. The Chieu Hoi is the Hamlet Chief of Heip An, Name Ngo Hai. We also had a M60 ammo can of documents CIA. The 21 element spotted and engaged 4 to 5 VC with small arms fire at 150 meters, they evaded to the east and the 21 element checked area with negative findings. The Chieu Hoi said that there would be 4 more people willing to Chieu Hoi tomorrow. At 1949hrs Charlie Company we are in our Night Defense Position at BS746455 with 2 roving patrol tonight and multiply ambushes.
Delta Company
June 21, 1970
At 0745hrs Delta Company 71 and the Charlie Company 26 Engineer our work location is at BS735805 and now moving to that location. At 0930hrs Delta Company the Day Logger is at BS750630 the 22 Patrol will be at checkpoint 1 at BS741637, checkpoint 2 at BS742640 and checkpoint 3 at BS744633. The 23 element Patrol is at checkpoint 1 at BS744631, checkpoint 2 at BS737635 and checkpoint 3 at BS741634 and the 93 element will be at BS744629, the checkpoint 2 will be at BS738626, checkpoint 3 at BS747628. All patrols will move out at 1860hrs. The Night Defense Position will be at BS733635. At 1600hrs Delta Company request Urgent Dust Off for 2 US with multiple frag wounds of the back and legs from BS743596. The wounds were received from booby tap of unknown type, Line #123R PFC Reld and #139A Pvt Ames, Dust Off complete at 1615hrs. It was believe to be a 60mm mortar round, with an unknown type, firing device. At 1710hrs Delta Company 23 element at BS743639 spotted 2 personnel in a wood line and pursued them with negative results. At 1735hrs Delta Company the 23 element is at BS743639 where they found several bunkers and fighting position on a trail running northwest along the bottom of a ridgeline. We will call in artillery tonight. At 1855hrs Delta 71 we spotted several Vietnamese evading to the northeast at 800 meters, dressed in all black, a blue uniform and khaki uniforms. 3 VC with weapons were engaged with 50 caliber and 60mm with unknown finding at grid BS740580. At 2010hrs Delta Company our Night Defense Position is at BS733635 with multiply ambushes. Delta Company reports the following: PFC Theodore Reid with frag wounds both legs and neck and PVT Leroy Ames with frag wounds to back and chest where evac to 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fires Mission 8 for a total expended of 20 HE and 20 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0705hrs Recon Platoon we have 1 VC KIA, about 24 dressed in all black and no ID. The Kit Carson Scout pointed him out to us as he was evading and he was engaged with small arms fire at grid BS755569. He had a notebook on him. The Kit Carson Scout says it is some kind of supply book and the KIA was some small unit supply honcho. He was engaged when he was moving west at 400 to 500 meters. At 0740 our present Day logger location is at BS758467. At 0935hrs Recon Platoon at grid BS758567 our Day Logger found a tunnel hidden in a hedgerow 4’ wide and 8’ long. There was no finding inside the tunnel and it was destroyed. At 1445hrs Recon Platoon the 22 and 23 elements is moving on their patrol to BS7656 and BS7550. At 1805hrs Recon Platoon the 23 element engaged at 600 meters, 3 VC/NVA with packs and possibly weapons at grid BS765568. The result is 1 VC/NVA KIA, wearing a green uniform and approximately 35 years of age. Two other VC evaded to the northeast. The KIA had no weapon or ID. When moving back to their Day Logger the 23 element received machine gun fire from approximately 700 meters to their northwest with negative casualties and at 1835hrs Recon all element closed on Day Logger at BS758567. At 2007hrs Recon the 21 snake is at BS756566, the 22 snake is at BS754572 and the 23 element is at BS764573.
