Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder as the Battalion returns to Control of the 11th Light Infantry Brigade Control in the Duc Pho Area of Operation. At 0755hrs 1-20 Infantry Delta Company 4-21 Infantry received information from Vietnamese source that mines were located at BS748509, BS748510 and BS747512. At 0900hrs CPT Henderson Message to 1-20 Infantry the scout Dog Platoon will be training in grid BS8239 from 1300-1600hrs today, call sign Ramrod 55 on Brigade Command net. At 1052hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry at BS784501 received 8 rounds small arms fire, sweeping area now. At 0845hrs at BS912263 found 8-10 pounds of C-4 wrapped in fatigue pants in middle of road, had claymore wire and cap blew charge, wire ran east 35-40 meters into rocks and at 1000hrs at BS912264 found M-26 grenade booby trap and blew in place. At 1600hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry at BS773512 detained 3 VCS who will show US troops where minefield is located. The VCS were being led in front PRU, when VCS came upon location they refused to go further size of minefield is unknown, will fire H & I on area and put ambushes around area of approach. At 1700hrs MACV Major Smith, at BS910228 there is a VC battalion with mission to attack Sa Huynh area between now and Sunday night. The VC came to recruit 100 personnel labor party, to carry fish and rice to VC camp. The Battalion is part of coordination attack on Duc Pho district. There is supposed to be 40 sappers with in 500 meters with mission to attack LZ Bronco and LZ Thunder to halt any reaction force for Sa Huynh. I will fire Artillery at possible targets tonight between 1830-1900hrs. Report from LT Bloom MACV indicates that the 401 Regiment and 328th Regiment are in the area with mission to attack Duc Pho with 122mm rockets (DATE between the 18-30 June 1968). At 1830hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry 1st and 2nd Platoon with Command Post at LZ Dragon with ambushes 3rd Platoon at BS780498 and BS778497. Delta Company 1-52 Infantry 1st and 2nd Platoons with Command Post is located at LZ Liz with 3rd Platoon ambushes at BS742435 and BS749451. At 1841hrs 1-20 Infantry E Troop reported to commanding Officer on island next to Charlie Brown says at BS910285 and BS910210 there are 2 groups of VC with mission of hitting Bridge 95 tonight.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0845hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer at 9122264 found 8-10 pounds of C-4 wrapped in fatigue pants in middle of road, had claymore wire and cap. Blew charge, wire ran east 35-40 meters into roads. At 100hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer at 912264 found M-226 grenade placed under sheep’s foot roller tongue with pin pulled. The tongue held down safety handle. Placed safety pin back in grenade then blew in place. At 1220hrs 1-20 Infantry a 2 ½ ton truck from Bravo Battery 6-11 Artillery over turned on LZ Thunder access road, results negative casualties and bumper # B-29.

At 1205hrs Bravo Company is located at BS785430. At 1830hrs Bravo Company are in their Night Defense Position at BS768403 with ambushes at BS812424, BS814433, and BS812434.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is at LZ Bronco for their Stand Down. At 1830hrs Charlie Company has established at Night Defense Position at BS799366 with ambushes at 10 BS802364, 20 BS795366 and 30 at BS801369.
Delta Company
June 21, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 0707hrs Delta Company has 1 addition casualty from 3rd platoon mortar attack piece of shrapnel in foot, part of 7 WHA and was not evac last night. At 1040hrs Delta Company at BS753507 engaged 2 VC evading, checking area with negative results. At 1830hrs Delta Company (-) is on LZ Thunder with ambush 20 at BS853303, 21 at BS843312, and 22 BS844304.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0928hrs Recon Platoon at BS815400hrs spotted 1 individual 400 meters away in maroon shirt moving northwest couldn’t take under fire kids in area, same area found 1 large crock of rice in a burn out hooch hidden under floor, about 200 pounds will destroy. At 1830hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at LZ Charlie Brown.
