Headquarters and Headquarter Company
January 21, 1968
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1100hrs Quang Ngai CPT Caywood, effective Date /Time 211300hrs all ARVN units in I Corps go on 100% alert indefinite period ( probably until TET, reason intelligence increased VC activity, especially in DA Nang area). At 1450hrs Alpha Company reports Convoy has cleared the 1-20 Infantry, Area of Operation. At 2125hrs 1-20 Infantry reported elements located at Bridge 108 received 2 rounds from the northwest of their positions at a range of approximately 900 meters at BS833336, this is a no fire zone. 1-20 Infantry advised that if received further small arms rounds would attempt to get political clearance to return fire.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2030hrs Headquarters Company LZ Bronco, reports bunker 3 at BS839367 and bunker 11 BS839363 receiving automatic weapons and small arms fire. Bunker 3 automatic weapons fire and bunker 11 small arms fire. Bunker elements returned fire, this continued for approximately 1 hour. At 2235hrs 6th Support Bunker 52 and 53 reports movement out to their front requested illumination negative sightings.
Alpha Company
January 21, 1968
At 0830hr Alpha Company 1st Platoon is at BS821346 and 2nd Platoon at BS873300 conducting a Cordon and Search operation with the 3rd Platoon and Command Post at LZ Thunder to continue their Security Mission for the LZ. At 1450hrs Alpha Company reports Air Calvary Division Convoy has cleared 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation and request clearance to assume normal mission.
Bravo Company

At 0830hrs Bravo Company is located at 894228. At 899241 Bravo Company found 400 pounds of Rice hidden in a hedgerow and continued their OP’s and some patrolling in their Area of Operation.
Charlie Company
January 21, 1968
At 0830hrs Charlie Company is moving out on a Search and Destroyed mission in their Area of Operation. At 1727hrs Charlie Company is 1st lift extraction and was their Combat Assault is completed at 1800hrs.
Delta Company
January 21, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and conducts patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1350hrs Delta Company detained 1 VC at BS897268 detainee had hand grenade fuses on him which would be used in booby traps. At 2125hrs 1-20 Infantry reported elements located at Bridge 108 received 2 rounds from the northwest of their positions at a range of approximately 900 meters at BS833336, this is a no fire zone. 1-20 Infantry advised that if received further small arms rounds would attempt to get political clearance to return fire.
Echo Company
January 21, 1968
Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1800hrs Recon reports insertion is completed and mortar round, it has been found and blown in place.
