Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0200hrs MACV Mo Duc PF 160 vicinity 733653 received 1 hand frag and observed 2 VC/NVA at the same time. A RF ambush 500 meters to the west of OP engaged the 2 VC/NVA. There were negative friendly casualties or damage more to follow. At 0255rhs Saber Black vicinity 712558, IOS sighted 40 to 70 personnel vicinity 712558. Saber Black is on station to check out the area at 0223hrs and had negative findings. At 0305hrs Saber Black broke station to refuel with negative findings. At 0320hrs Saber Black is on station for Box 60 was diverted at 0345hrs to check radar sighting at 774480. At 0417hrs Saber black vicinity 788472, engaging 2 boats in a stream, Mo Duc cleared it, results destroyed 2 boats. At 0445hrs Saber Black sighted 7 camouflaged boats at 779488, they received clearance and engaging. Also observed 7 to 8 bags in one boat, results 7 boats destroyed. Saber Black breaking at 0500hrs. At 0810hrs Primo 7 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 0820hrs S-4 Hornet 15 is on station for re supply. At 0915hrs Primo 4 is breaking station at this time. At 0940hrs MACV Mo Duc vicinity 733653, reference activity Duc Phung Village. MAT Team I 26 said enemy element was made up of approximately a Company size 60 personnel and moved into village and captured 2 villagers (not village officials). Did confirm that enemy element did have 1 PRC 10 and 1 PRC 25 with them. Did not know where the enemy has move to, but suspect to the south vicinity Van Ban. At 1840hrs Primo 4 is breaking station. Legend: 1st Platoon 02-07, 2nd Platoon 42-47, 3rd Platoon 92-97, 4th Platoon 52-57, CO-01.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and will continue their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
ALPHA COMPANY

Alpha Company 2nd Platoon ambush closed at 694464. At 0849hrs Alpha Company patrols moving out 2nd Platoon to 694456, 1st Platoon to 694487 and 3rd Platoon at 665495. At 0925hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon vicinity 667495, found a booby trap consisting of a US M-26 hand frag with trip wire was approximately 1" high on a trail, it was destroyed in place. At 0955hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon patrol vicinity 667495, found a fresh grave, 1-2 days old, contained 1 male VC dressed in black pants and green shirt and bush hat, age 20-25. VC was a KBA, evidence of large shrapnel wounds to head, stomach, neck, legs and groin and back, KBA is credit to 3-16 Artillery form LZ Snoopy. Believe it was the Fire Mission called by Alpha Company FO at 662498, and the Command Post, 2nd, 4the Platoon for Patrol Base Vicinity 694473. At 1255hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon vicinity 684498, requests routine Dust Off for 1 US with severe back and legs pains line #H1592, completed by Re Supply ship. At 1755hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon vicinity 663498, while moving to Night Defense Position sighted 1 VC/NVA at approximately 300 meters. VC/NVA had evaded to the south, they engaged with small arms fire, VC/NVA were all wearing green on green and they checked the area with negative finding. At 1840hrs Alpha Company 4th Platoon patrol closed at 701482, Command Post, 2nd Platoon Night Defense Position is at 703479, 1st Platoon is at 689498 and 3rd Platoon is at 661498.
BRAVO COMPANY

At 0807hrs Bravo Company all ambushes closed 1st Platoon at 658577, 2nd Platoon at 653564 and 3rd Platoon at 658587. All elements are moving to patrol bases Command Post 1st and 4th Platoon at 679582, 2nd Platoon at 675581 and 3rd Platoon at 674589. At 1020hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon vicinity 675590 while moving through a tree line, the point element detonated a 155, booby trap. The booby trap was a trip wire release type with a smoke grenade fuse, placed across a tree line chest high results in 2 US KHA, 7 US WHA (including Platoon Leader and Platoon Sgt.) only 6 evacuated. At 1250hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon closed on Command Post vicinity 679582. At 2000hrs Bravo Company Command Post, 1st, 3rd and 4th Platoon is at 682585 and 1st Platoon ambush is at 682583. Bravo Company reports that SSGT Charles F. Weyant, PFC Joseph J. Sheridan, PFC Teddy W. Williams, PFC STEVEN VINCENT AST (See March 3, 1971), and PFC Steven R. CHARLIE COMPANY

At 0210hrs Charlie Company vicinity 712558, received IOS sighted 40-70 personnel vicinity 712558. They had negative findings. Saber Black on station to check out area of contact and at 0223hrs they had negative finding and Charlie Company engaged with 81mm mortars. At 0842hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon moving to 712558 to check out area with 1st Platoon moving to 709550, 705536. At 0933hrs Charlie Company vicinity 701556, 3rd Platoon patrol found a 105 booby trap already tripped, wire were running along hedgerow, booby trap will be dusted in place. At 1004hrs Charlie Company vicinity 670561, requests a priority Dust Off for 1 PF who detonated booby trap, lost 1 tow on right foot completed at 1051hrs. At 1100rhs Charlie Company at OP Pax and PF 165, PF while on patrol detonated booby trap, pressure type firing device, And a 40mm round located in cultivate field in the open. At 1147hrs Charlie Company vicinity 686536, 1st Platoon on patrol found an unidentified booby7 trap, 2" in diameter and 26’"long, had a trip wire across trail. The booby trap was off a trail, 5’ in a grassy area, blew it in place. At 1200hrs Charlie Company at OP Wink vicinity 699562 request a priority Dust Off for 4 US who were bitten by dog on the 19th of February. Dog died of unknown causes, dog was Dust Off to Bronco also Dust Off completed at 1235hrs. At 1245hrs Charlie Company closed 1st Platoon at 709550, 705536 and 3rd Platoon at 704551. At 1930hrs Charlie Company reports from OP Pax, hydraulic jack filled with Petna, it had a hand frag fuse. They paid them 1 ½ boxes of C Rations for it and all items where destroyed. At 2030hrs Charlie Company at OP Pax vicinity 693538, 1st Platoon saw 1 person 150 meters to the southwest of their night location. Saw him through star light scope fired 60mm mortar illumination and engaged him with M-60 and small arms fire. Person evaded to the southwest and will check out the area at first light.
DELTA COMPANY

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0755hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon moving out for 715433 and at 1015hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon sighted and engaged 2 VC with packs and weapons (wearing all black) at a distance of 250 meters. They are now sweeping the area at this time and the VC evaded north. Delta Company found 2 bags of rice, both bags contained polished rice. At 1156hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon patrol at 700430 and by 1250hrs 1st Platoon is at 750424. At 1400hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon is moving out for 710422 and is at 1950hrs Delta Company is moving into their Night Defense Position at 709434 with ambush in location at 713422.
ECHO COMPANY

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0910hrs Recon reports to conducting cloverleaf operation in area of LZ vicinity 823423. At 1820hrs Recon on patrol vicinity 821422 found a 105 round (Booby trap). It was located on a trail and had a trip wire release device and blown in place. At 822428 they found an M-26 hand frag booby trap with trip wire on a trail and blew it in place. At 1835hrs Recon is moving for Night Logger position at 825424 and closed on location at 1927hrs.
