Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0721hrs 4 ARVN reports The 1-4 ARVN Battalion at 210430hrs August 1971while on a raid made contact with unknown size enemy force with results 2 VC KIA, 1 AK 47 CIA, 2 rucksacks CIA. At 0835hrs Access Road is clear and open. At 0900hrs Inferno 59 (Bravo 123 Aviation) is on station for APD Box 71. At 0930hrs 26 Engineer has 1 bull dossier working on LIZ is down. At 1530hrs 11 Brigade at 0950hrs a helicopter containing Gordie, Bruce PFC Charlie Company crashed on take off from LZ Dottie injuring above personnel. Reason for crash is unknown at this time individual where Dust Off to Chu Lai by CH-47 at 1015hrs. At 1522hrs General McDough is at Nui Vong. At 1528hrs Convoy departed for Chu Lai 14 Vehicles 32 packs preparing to leave LZ Liz and arrive at Chu Lai 1715hrs. At 1535hrs 26 Engineer have completed their operations. 2 gun pits and 9 buildings. At 1605hrs 1-20 Infantry Commanding General departed Nui Vong only derogative remarks were needed more wire around perimeter, TOC and AMMO Dump. Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97 and CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company
August 21, 1971
Alpha Company is on LZ Liz preparing for Move West and LZ Liz to be turn over to the ARVN. Alpha Company conducts a Eagle Fight at 1120hrs from BS715300 to BS652305, BS659327 and BS6659324 completed at 1241hrs. Alpha Company reports their Night Defense Position reported BS718300.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Charlie Company
August 21, 1971
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and at 1428hrs Charlie Company at BS728332 the 2nd Platoon found a gun ship Rocket, blew it in place. At 1930hrs Alpha Company conducts Search and Clear Operation in their Area of Operations Report Night Defense Position at BS729328. PFC Bruce H. Goudie was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital (See Headquarters and Headquarter Company August 21, 1971).
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and prepares to move north and turn over LZ Liz to the ARVN. PVT Carnell Brainson was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company
August 21, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0720hrs Recon is closing on LZ Liz. At 1815hrs Recon is moving to Night Defense Position and closed on position at 2201hrs at BS738414.
