Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0400hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Radar Targets at 1915hrs sited 1 to 5 stationary personnel at BS816474 and engaged with 8 HE of Artillery105mm. At 2045hrs sighted 1 to 5 stationary personnel at BS832407 and engaged with 6 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 2045hrs sighted 1 to 5 stationary personnel at BS742407 and engaged with 6 HE of Arillery155mm. At 2145hrs signed 10 to 15 personnel were moving east at BS819434 and engaged with 15 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 2210hrs sighted 10 to 15 personnel were moving east at BS819434 and engaged with 15 HE of Artillery 155mm and at 0300hrs 6 to 7 stationary personnel were sighted at BS825434 and engaged with 8 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 0335hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted at BS819442 and engaged with 20 HE of Artillery105. At 0655hrs Charlie and Delta Companies have request emergency re supply of 81mm Illumination rounds. At 0750hrs M26 we had RD Cadre hit a booby trap at grid BS764536 with his foot amputated and Dusted Off. A rucksack laying in the road with a poncho liner over it was picked up and a Chi Com grenade blew off his foot. At 0745hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry the land clearing elements are in location at BS776508. At 1507hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry at grid BS783502 we have 1 KIA from the 26 Engineer who stepped on a 105 pressure type booby trap and will be picked up by a Dust Off completed at 1547hrs Name Fossett.26 Engineer reports that SSGT ROBERT LEE FUZZARD IS LISTED AS KHA FROM Bravo Company 26 Engineer evac to Duc Pho GRP.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0830hrs Alpha Company 36, 56 and 76 closed on LZ Liz and the 37 element is on road security. At 1940hrs Alpha Company reports that their 56 element is at BS755442.
Bravo Company
May 20, 1970
At 0450hrs Bravo Company the 57 element is moving to their blocking position for their Cordon and Search operation and by 0655hrs Bravo Company completed the operation with negative finding. At 1800hrs Bravo Company 56 element is at BS765450 where they found a dud 155 round, not booby trap which they blew in place. At 2307hrs Bravo Company reports the Vietnamese operating with them is moving out to their ambush location.
Charlie Company

At 0638hrs Charlie Company 57 and 58 have closed on their parent unit. Charlie Company is setting up Day Logger in the BS790429, BS760588, BS744574 and all of them in location at 0750hrs. At 0655hrs Charlie and Delta Companies have requests emergency re supply of 81mm Illumination rounds. Charlie Company will use multiple patrols and Day Ambush in their Area of Operation. At 1010hrs Charlie Company the 78 element will snake in the location of mortar flash and where they heard a boat mortar at BS764588. At 1140hrs Charlie Company found 200 pounds of unpolished rice under a haystack in their Day Logger. It was grown locally and found in a hole. It appears to have been there approximately 1-2 weeks at grid BS744574. At 1725hrs Charlie Company has a routine Dust Off for US who threw a hand frag and stepped to the side where there was a small hole covered by grass. A frag came through the hole and hit the US in the arm, Line Number 116 (Dove) at grid BS760588 (believe it was PFC Terry Dove). Charlie Company Command Post established their Night Defense Position at BS747578 with multiple ambushes out.
Delta Company

By 0635hrs Delta Company all elements and snakes have closed. At 0655hrs Charlie and Delta Companies have request emergency re supply of 81mm Illumination rounds. At 0725hrs Delta Company the 74, is in their Day Logger is at BS767556, the 34 element is at BS767544 and the Command Post Day Logger is at BS752552. Delta Company from their Day Logger locations conducted saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1330hrs Delta Company we request an Urgent Dust Off for 2 US who hit a booby trap hand frag with a pressure device and have multiple frag wounds at BS776549. Line number 6d (1lt Dorothy) and 15a SGT Avedisian. Dust OFF completed at 1352hrs. The 34 element was chasing an evading female, fired a warning shot and she stopped at the same time the 34 element hit a booby trap hand frag grenade with a pressure device. LT Dorothy received multiple frag wounds to the side, chest head and was evac to 27 Surgical Hospital Chu Lai and probably Japan and SGT James Avedisian had small, scattered frag wounds to the body. 2LT Grant E. Dorothy and SGT James Avedisian JR. where attached to 27 Surgical Hospital. At 1850hrs Delta Company set up their Night Defense Position with multiple ambushes out again tonight. At 2045hrs Delta Company the Radar sighted 15 to 20 personnel moving southwest with Delta Company informed to engaged with 81mm mortars.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fires Mission 4 for a total expended of 8 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
