Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0050hrs MACV Mo Duc, vicinity BS731541 requested 1 Priority Dust Off for 2 PF, 1 with broken leg and shrapnel and other with shrapnel to chest and hand as a result of contact, Negative Vietnamese Air Force initials (MGJ), Bird #87 completed Dust Off at 0107hrs. At 0151hrs LATE SPOT MACV Mo Duc at 192245hrs June 1971 vicinity BS753512, while in ambush location PF unit 145 made contact with unknown size enemy force and received small arms fire and a few grenades. Results 4 PF KIA, 1 PF WIA, 1 PRC-10 radio and 1 M-16 CIA, US confirmation, with Enemy loses were 2 VC KIA. At 0347hrs MACV Mo Duc PF 168 vicinity 769531 requests 1 Urgent Dust Off for 2 PF with chest wounds and 1 Vietnamese child with multiply frag wounds, cause by mortar round. The Final Results 1 PF KIA, 1 Hamlet Chief WIA, 1 PSDF WIA and 2 Civilians WIA, Dust Off 87 completed at 0410hrs. At 0350hrs READ OUT MACV MO Duc PF 168 received 6 B40 rockets, 6 60mm mortar rounds, and 4 hand frag grenades resulting in 1 PF KIA, 2 PF WIA and 1 Vietnamese child WIA, negative knowledge of enemy casualties or size of enemy force. At 0830hrs Primo 2 is on station at this time. At 0920hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz Access Road is now clear. At 1310hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord 3 is on station for Box 53. At 1320hrs MACV Mo Duc requests Urgent Dust Off for 2 PF, 1 with traumatic amputation of the leg and he other with multiple frag wounds and broken leg, Dust Off 87 completed at 1330hrs vicinity BS773544. At 1405hrs Warlord 33 reports he inserted Blues at above grid, sighting were bunkers, hootches, fresh trails and 2 caves vicinity insertion was BS892213. At 1607hrs LZ Liz, General Gorowitz discussed general tactical situation, drug problem, troop morale, and Fire Base readiness. At 1700hrs MACV Mo Duc at BS776512 found rice still cooking in pots, 3 NVA flags, 2 manuals and clothing. At 1730hrs AMC Bird released and Commander is returned to LZ Liz Combat Assault of Charlie Company is completed. At 1740hrs Combat Assault of Charlie Company 1st PZ at 1500hrs and 5 LZ was at 1703hrs. At 1958hrs Hill 103 engaged 2 VC at grid BS686584 with 3 US and 4 Vietnamese tanks rounds. Also expended 10 HE 81mm mortar, eye sighting with results unknown. At 2146hrs Saber Black on Station for Charlie Company contact vicinity grid BS727433 believe his received several rounds small arms fire at 2150hrs from area. At 2229hrs Saber broke from Charlie Company contact area with negative finding and entered special intelligence box BS7141 to BS7492. At 2330hrs Nui Vong request fire mission on BS665584, end of mission 0015hrs, expended 11 HE rounds 4.2 Mortar and 1 Illumination rounds of 4.2 mortar, 7 HE ARVN Tank rounds and 5 HE US tank rounds. Legend: 1st Platoon 17, 2nd Platoon 44, 3rd Platoon 56, 4th Platoon 23 and CO-64.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company has a Security Mission for LZ Bronco and 11 Brigade as Brigade is moving to LZ Dottie and Chu Lai.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road Security. At 1607hrs General Corowitz on LZ Liz discussed general tactical situation, drug problem and troop morale also fire base readiness.
Charlie Company
June 20, 1971
Charlie Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0630hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon is moving to their Patrol Base at bS725424. At 0710hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon and Command Post is moving to Patrol Base vicinity BS725424. At 1115hrs Charlie Company Command Post while in Patrol Base bought 1 M79 round from Vietnamese male, 7 paid 1 C Ration meal and was blown in place. At 1740hrs Charlie Company conduct Combat Assault 1st PZ 1500hrs and last LZ at 1703hrs and birds released at 1730hrs. At 1930hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon vicinity BS727433 spotted 3 NVA with packs and weapons next to a tree, 2nd Platoon began pursuit as NVA evaded to northwest returning fire. At total of 9 NVA were then observed breaking into small groups evading to the east, west and northwest. The 2nd Platoon continued pursuit with the Command Post and 3rd Platoon sitting up a hasty blocking position to prevent movement to the west with the assistance of artillery blocking fires at grid BS715435. The 2nd Platoon was able to pin down and kill 2 NVA both wearing green on green with black underneath. CIA were 1 AK 47, 2 Chi Com, 1 bag of documents, 1 rucksack and 1 sand bag filled with unknown its which will be check out at 1st Light. At 2050hrs the entire company lined up to continue sweep of contact area as it was believed three additional bodies were dragged off. Reports had negative finding, until time 2135hrs while moving from sweep area to Night Defense Post the Command Post spotted 3 NVA moving towards area of contact from the west engaged with small arms. NVA evaded to the west engaged with small arms fire, NVA were trying to drag off bodies. During contact 2 US were wounded slightly, Line # 330 Perers, Charles PFC, and # 340 Carlson, Jerry. The 1st had small frag to knee, and 2nd bullet graze to left forearm. At 2146hrs Saber Black on Station for Charlie Company contact vicinity grid BS727433 believe his received several rounds small arms fire at 2150hrs from area. At 2229hrs Saber broke from Charlie Company contact area with negative finding and entered special intelligence box BS7141 to BS7492. At 2235hrs Charlie Company reports their locations Command Post and 3rd Platoon in night Defense Position at BS733425 and at 2310 2nd Platoon at BS729427.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco and 11 Brigade as the Brigade is moving to LZ Dottie and Chu Lai and turning over LZ Bronco to the ARVN.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0645hrs Recon is on the move to their Patrol Base vicinity BS725424. At 1905hrs Recon is moving to their Night Defense Position at BS745419 from LZ Liz.
