Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1030hrs MACV RF at BS781417 unknown time 1 VC Chieu Hoi turned himself in at bridge 402 and he said there are 2 Battalion at BS710477 and BS727470, both battalion meet a night on top of hill at BS727420 and information pass to Red Legs at LZ Max and 1-20 Infantry. The location of the Hoi Chanh is unknown at this time.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0910hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer at BS806378 mine sweep team observation 2 Vietnam detonate mine, with results 2 Vietnam KIA and 1 VC WIA, the team checked area and bound booby trap which they destroyed. At 0955hrs Delta Company 39 Engineer at BS730598 received small arms fire from east side of road, return fire with unknown results and continued sweep.
Alpha Company
July 20, 1969
At 0639 Alpha Company was on the move out of the Night Defense Position. At 0825hrs their location is BS730452 and around 0900 have a woman that had admitted selling rice to the NVA, she was approximately 43 years of age wearing blue blouse and black pants. At 0935hrs Alpha Company we have found about 5,000 pounds of rice in holes covered with plastic and part was under a haystack and in a hootch. Also found a fuse (from possible 82mm) and some NVA clothing. There were 33 bags in hootch, 16 7/2 bags in haystack and rest in holes. Alpha Company at 1000hrs found a lot of the stuff that we have in a well construct hootch. We would like to have some pick and shovel people to blow it up and there are also a couple of bunkers (capacity about 2 platoons). At 1140hrs Alpha Company extraction of 48 bags of rice completed by lift ship and Command and Control helicopter at this time and our Day logger at BS738446. At 1545hrs we moved 200 meters to the north east to BS728454, request urgent Dust off for 1 US who has pains in chest and has trouble breathing, man name is Paul, ETA 15-20 minutes, completed at 1649hrs at grid BS728454. At 1840hrs we are moving out of our Day Logger at this time and by 1950hrs Alpha Company was moving into their Night Defense Position at BS752447. Setting up the Night Defense Position found 3 fresh graves at the edge of the site and will dig up in morning. Due to lack of radios and headsets we will be unable at this time to have snake locations but will set up Listening Post tonight within 200 meters of Night Defense Position, 63 east, 13 to west, and 83 to south.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company Day logger is at BS776418, the 63 and the 83 elements is moving out to check out the River area and the 13 element is moving out for bridge 402. At 0903hrs Bravo Company 83 element in sweeping the area vicinity grid BS774417 found some fresh graves, also some holes and is checking them out at this time. At 1100hrs Bravo Company all elements have closed on our Day Logger (63/18/13) and moved to our Night Defense Position at BS770420 and plan a Cordon and Search tomorrow area BS775427.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Delta Company
July 20, 1969
At 0630hrs Delta Company reports all snakes are in and moving to Day Logger at BS818462. The 83 element will be doing a Recon in Force to BS804463 and the 63 element to BS803458. At 1245hrs the 63 and 93 elements joined and checkout the area, they received 1 AK round and they picked up a VC suspect female approximately 24 years old in the area, and there was also warm food in a pot at Grid BS802461. At 1700hrs Delta Company receiving sniper fire from our west, about 3 snipers at grid is BS728454 called artillery on the location. At 1900hrs Delta Company we are at night Defense Position vicinity BS826452 and with the 14 element snake element is at BS821450.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0630hrs 4.2 Platoon reports fired DT 3, 1 observed mission expend 12 rounds HE and 6 rounds of WP. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0630hrs Recon Platoon reported moving toward LZ Bronco at this time. At 0725hrs Recon Platoon reported closed on LZ Bronco. At 1907hrs Recon Platoon is moving out of LZ Bronco to our Day Logger and snake location. At 2010hrs Recon Platoon reports they are at their Day Logger at BS830370 and at 2020hrs we are moving out to snake location. At 2035hrs Recon has moved into their snake location at BS839362.
