Forward Area: (1-20 Infantry Headquarters) is located at LZ Liz and continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0210hrs MACV Mo Duc, 1 Urgent Dust Off for 2 Vietnamese friendly with multiple frag wounds to extremities and head. Personnel stepped on booby trap. LZ Max is the pick up point both personnel are litter case, completed at 0230hrs. At 0245hrs MACV Mo Duc reference previous message 4 Vietnamese friendly the personnel were wounded vicinity BS767472 by what was believed to the VC mortar fire. Fire was believed to be coming from vicinity BS774470, resulted in 2 Vietnamese friendly dusted off. Dust Off was completed at 0230hrs other 2 will go into the dispensary in the morning MACV rating F-1. At 0705hrs MACV Mo Duc urgent Dust Off, 1 PF litter, with multiple amputations from a pressure release type booby trap, Dust Off completed at 0725hrs. At 1030hrs S-4 reports Dolphin 359 on station for resupply. At 1035rhs MACV Alpha Company Urgent Dust Off for 1 US MACV advisor and 2 RF with multiple frag wounds to body and limbs. Can of Petna Booby Trap in a tree, completed at 1043hrs, Booby Trap was later found to be a US hand frag suspended from a tree trip wire was ankle level on a trail in a wood line. At 1320hrs S-5 LZ Max VIP shown 1 B 40 rocket by a 10 year old male, paid him 250 piasters, destroyed it in place. At 1030hrs MACV Mo Duc RF 468 vicinity BS704556, while moving from Mo Duc District to their outpost sight a squad size element was fired upon by 2 or 3 VC from a distance of 300 meters. 1 RF was wounded in the exchange of small arms fire. A reaction force of RF was dispatched from the outpost vicinity BS699563 and linked up with the RF squad in contact. Artillery was fired into the area, and 1 RF WIA was evac at 1240hrs. At 2258hrs Blue Ghost 40 requests clearance for Box 68, cleared negative friendly in the Box. At 2310hrs diverted Ghost 40 to BS794470 radar sighted 3 to 5 personnel at that location. At 2315hrs spotted what looked to be 1 personnel, engaged but could not confirm, thought the person was at entrance to a tunnel or something of this nature. Location BS782456, Ghost 40 broke station at 2329hrs with negative findings. Legend: 1st Platoon 83-88, 2nd Platoon 33-38, 3rd Platoon 03-08, 4th Platoon 63-68 and CO 09.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2200hrs 1-20 Rear Bunker #46 sighted 5 personnel 75 to 100 meters outside of the outermost wire, when illumination was popped individuals hide, the area was engaged with small arms and XM 203 fire. There was no return fire, 2240hrs no further movement with negative results.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company Urgent Dust Off for 1 US MACV advisor and 2 RF with multiple frag wounds to body and limbs can of Petna booby trap in a tree, completed at 1043hrs, booby trap was later found to be a US Hand Frag suspended from a tree. The trip wire was ankle level on a trail in a wood line. Alpha Company used Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1901hrs Alpha Company reports their locations Command Post BS698564, 3rd Platoon BS690540, BS692534, BS686540, 2nd Platoon BS698564, BS700564, BS702561 and 1st Platoon BS673572, BS675572, BS670575. At 2045hrs Alpha Company vicinity BS696560, the RF 468 Company ambush received 1 hand frag from their west resulting in no injuries. They engaged with small arms and claymores then requested 81 Illumination and spotted no enemy put 81mm Mortar HE rounds in suspected enemy location to their west vicinity BS692560, the ambush patrol returned to the Command Post Location and will check in the morning.
Bravo Company

Charlie Company
December 20, 1970
Charlie Company will continue their VIP and patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0940hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon is at BS767377, 1st Platoon is at BS724415, Command Post and 2nd Platoon and 4th Platoon is at BS759393. At 1030hrs Charlie Company Command Post element in their Patrol Base BS759393 bought 1 4.2 Mortar HE round and 1 segment of a firecracker round from some Vietnamese, they paid 3 meals of C Rations, destroyed all ordinance in place. At 1335hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS724415 bought 1 81mm Mortar HE round, 2 fuses from a 105 Artillery round, paid 5 cans of C Rations to a 13 year old Vietnamese male all ordinance was destroyed in place. At 1425hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS724415 bought 1 57mm recoilless rifle round with Chinese markings, paid 1 box C Rations to a 10 year old Vietnamese male. At 1430hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon bought 1 82mm Mortar HE round from a 11 year old Vietnamese male, paid 2 cans of C-Rations also was shown 1 8" Artillery round and 1 250 pound bomb, paid 4 boxes of C Rations to 11 year old male and destroyed in place. At 1550hrs Charlie Company Command Post vicinity BS759393 bought 6 105 Artillery fuses from a 10 year old male, paid 6 cans of C rations and destroyed fuses. At 1610hrs Charlie Company Command Post vicinity BS759393 bought 27 50 Caliber rounds still linked and paid 1 box C rations for them. At 1625hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS724415 bought 1 home made Chi Com (soda can with pull string) paid 3 cans C Rations to 11 year old male and destroyed. The 2nd Platoon bought 1 RPG round damaged by a bullet we paid 3 cans of C-Rations to a 9 year old Vietnamese male destroy all ordinations. At 1858hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon in location at BS767370, 3rd Platoon is at BS749402, BS742391, BS748382, and Command Post and 4th Platoon is at BS759393 with 1st Platoon at BS724415 and BS734418. At 1938hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS734418 while on Rat patrol engaged 2 personnel. The received negative fire, and evaded southeast, personnel engaged at 100 meters. The Platoon set up a ambush in the area and for a second time at 2015hrs engaged what was believed to be 2 more individuals moving in the same direction, personnel evaded southeast, checked area out with negative results.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1345hrs Delta Company Road Security vicinity BS767436, have 1 Vietnamese male who hit a booby trap. The booby trap vicinity BS765446, age 25-30 years old, suspected of setting a booby trap which detonated on him. At 1830hrs Delta Company vicinity BS762437, Road Security received 20-30 rounds of AK-47 the fire came from a wood line 2-250 meters to the northwest. LZ Liz put on 100% alert at 1837hrs. Delta Company sent a reactionary force from Command Post 81mm fired at 1845hrs. Alert ended at 1900hrs, checking the area at this time. Fire was automatic, from estimated 3 personnel. At 2200hrs Bunker #46 sighted 5 personnel 75 to 100 meters outside the outermost wire: illumination was popped and engaged with no return fire negative results. SP4 Edmond E. Fobbs was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon will continue their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry. (Check their Location possible OPCON)
