Headquarters and Headquarter Company
August 20, 1968
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0405hrs 1-20 Infantry has suspected hostiles around its area, firing artillery. At 0420hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC request gun ships and Command and Control Helicopter can be standing by at first light. At 0430hrs 1-20 TOC called division at 0445hrs approved from Division, 2 gun ships and Command and Control will be at LZ Thunder, Charlie Company SRRP element has movement all around them was approved. At 0830hrs 1-20 Infantry reports conducted Operation with negative results.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
August 20, 1968
At 0840hrs Alpha Company is located at BS778383. At 1111hrs Alpha Company is at BS783397 found 3 60mm mortar dud, one 105mm dud and will destroy in place. At 1835hrs Alpha Company is in their Night Defense Position at BS777388 with ambushes at 11 BS784374, 11A BS776376, 12 BS773378, 12A BS768388, 13 BS778398, and 21 BS785401.
Bravo Company
August 20, 1968
At 0840hrs Bravo Company is located at BS833313. At 1604hrs Bravo Company is located at BS820308, and at 1640hrs 6 spotted 2 observers at BS808326, dressed in black called in artillery. At 1835hrs Bravo Company is moving to their Night Defense Position at BS820308 with ambushes at 10-BS795294, 31 BS79301, 12 BS803299 and 20 BS806302.
Charlie Company
August 20, 1968
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1248hrs Charlie Company element on bridge 111 observed explosion on railroad embankment west of their location. Investigation resulted in one man held for questioning, at grid BS812363. At 1515hrs Charlie Company at BS800295 observed 2 VC with packs moving west Command and Control Helicopter will check. At 1604hrs Charlie Company 31 is at BS877266 and at 1835hrs Charlie Company is at LZ Thunder with 31 at BS877366 and 33 at BS808296.
Delta Company
August 20, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 1835hrs Delta Company reports locations 10 at BS190519, the 11 at BS897203, 12 at BS903207, 20 and Command Post Charlie Brown with 22 bridge 94 and 23 LP at BS931221, 30 BS931138, 32 at BS927147 and BS935131. At 2100hrs Dust Off completed for EM burned by boiling water at LZ Charlie Brown completed at 2050hrs.
Echo Company
August 20, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 1815hrs Recon Platoon 3-1 Infantry and 1-20 Infantry reports their location is at Special Forces Camp at Ha Thanh.
