Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. 1-20 Infantry Request tracker team and flare ship denied tracker team at 0610hrs at southeast pad to transport to Charlie Company location by Brigade.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
April 20, 1970
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0758hrs Alpha Company the 63, 64, 65 have closed on the LZ at night the 63 element is now on Access Road all day. At 1909hrs Alpha Company the 63 element closed on Liz, the 43 element moving from BS760435 to BS765435, 44 moved from BS765435 to BS770438 and the 45 moving form BS770438 to BS776439.
Bravo Company

At 0725hrs Bravo Company 64 element is moving out for Road Security at Highway 1. At 0807hrs this is a priority Dust Off request for the 44 element has 1 Vietnamese male with broken leg and frag wounds he was playing with a dud 79 round, so he says and it went off completed at 0831hrs. At 1700hrs Bravo Company request for ambulance for one US with temp of 104 Line # is 122 Name is SP4 Robinson.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is moving to their Day Logger at 724453 and at 1610hrs Charlie Company 61 element had fire of unknown origin they swept through part of their Day Logger. The fire destroyed 3 rucksacks and contents approximately 300 rounds of M-60 ammo, one claymore, and one frag. Charlie Company moves to their Night Defense Position at BS744473 and with multiple snake locations. At 2050hrs Charlie Company the 65 element is moving to snake location spotted and heard approximately 4 personnel playing transistor radio 150 meters to their south. The 65 element moved toward them approximately 75 meters away and the enemy threw a hand frag at them wounding 1 US (Minor) (Huley line #552), the 4 personnel evaded to the east, 65 returned fire and checked with negative finding. At 2139hrs Charlie Company 03 element spotted 4 VC/NVA walking toward their snake location from the north approximately 15 to 20 meters away engaged with small arms fire. The enemy has returned fire with automatic weapons personnel evade to the southeast personnel believed wearing khaki uniforms the 03 element in pursue spotted blood trails. At 2145hrs Charlie Company 43 element had a mechanical ambush go off at their snake location checked with negative finding. At 2150hrs Charlie Company 03 element while pursuing personnel found 1 poncho lines, 1 bush hat, 2 rice cakes, 2 gas mask carriers, with rice inside, 1 VC KIA, 20-25, blue shirt, blue pants, flashlight, billfold will be evac to LZ Bronco. 1-20 Infantry Request tracker team and flare ship was denied, tracker team at 0610hrs at southeast pad to transport to Charlie Company location by Brigade. Charlie Company reports FW and treated and released in field SP4 Harry L Rhine JR with frag wound right hand.
Delta Company

At 0715hrs Delta Company 31element has mechanical ambush went of approximately at 0345hrs last night, the element checked out area and found that a cat set off the Mechanical Ambush. At 0800hrs the main units are at their Day logger. At 1740hrs all elements are moving to snake location. At 1830hrs Delta Company Urgent Dust Off the 61 element has two US with frag wounds one to the right arm. His name is SP4 John Ewing line # is 48E and one with wounds one of the leg and abdomen man’s name is SP4 Martin Lamb line #64L these wounds were caused by a booby trapped hand frag with pressure release type firing device, Dust Off completed at 1838hrs. At 1904hrs Delta Company Urgent Dust Off for the 62 element for 2 US with multiple frag wounds of the body and 2 US KIA resulting from a booby trapped frag grenade unknown type firing device ETA 10-15 min Dust Off complete 1915hrs. SSGT GERALD THOMAS BUTLER, SP4 RICHARD HENRY WARD IS LISTED AS KHA. Delta Company reports that 2LT Grant E. Dorothy with Frag wounds right arm and right eye, SP4 Carmine C. Yosue multiple frag wounds both legs and right wrist, SP4 Marlin L. Lamb with Multiple Frag wounds to (R) Leg and abdomen evac to 27 Surgical Hospital. SP4 John Ewing was treated for Frag wounds (R) arm and Left Leg at B 23 Medical.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0844hrs Recon Platoon reports its location at BS801395 and at 1135hrs Recon reports they have closed on LZ Liz. At 1805hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS744558.
