Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. 0005hrs LZ Liz 1-20 Infantry Bunker 4 has movement to their front illumination was fire and presently checking the area. At 0300hrs TMF at 0245hrs Sting 61 C activated estimated 3 packs where moving east to west at 2 miles per hour, metal confirmation, first light Visual Recon requested with negative results at 1430hrs. At 1030hrs (LATE SPOT) 6-11 Artillery reports at BS767468 a interpreter for 1-20 Infantry reports that 1 US Artillery round impact into a Vietnam Ville with total of 4 Vietnamese WIA, Investigation is being conducted. At 1950hrs at BS815434, reports 3 to 4 stationary personnel 4-21 Infantry Area of Operation. At 1950hrs at BS809430 reports 6 to 10 personnel Stationary also in the 4-21 Infantry (Area of Operation). At 2030hrs at BS714435 reports 6 to 10 Stationary personnel negative clearance due to proximity of friendly. At 2120hrs at BS807422 spotted 6 to 10 stationary personnel engaged with 20 HE rounds of 105 Artillery. At 2135hrs at BS712441 sighted 4 to 5 negative clearance and 0405hrs at BS713436 sighted 3 to 4 that where moving east to west with negative clearance. At 0405hrs at BS720429 sighted 1-5 stationary personnel engaged with 8 HE rounds Artillery and at 0545hrs at BS734418 sighted 1 to 5 Stationary personnel with negative clearance. At 0935hrs 1-20 Infantry Battalion Commander departed LZ Liz with Brigade Commander to visit 3rd Platoon Bravo Company at Hill 19 at BS712584. At 1134hrs 1-20 Air Calvary Box 66 02500hrs to 022000hrs September 1970, upper left BS6148 to lower right BS720435, approved. At 1135hrs 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation extension for 4 ARVN 011800hrs to 021800hrs September 1970, BS7679 to BS7652 to the South China Sea was approved by Major Bassett. At 1640hrs 1-20 Infantry 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation extension for RF 103 and 24 (ARVN) Calvary, 020600hrs to 030600hrs, west boundary Highway 1 North boundary 60 grid line South Boundary 53 grid line East boundary, coast and was approved by Major Bassett. At 2200hrs TMF at 2157hrs Sting 61B, has 4 packs where moving east to west, metal confirmation, negative clearance due to the proximity of friendly. At 2210hrs North OP radar spotted 4 to 5 Stationary personnel at BS759448, with negative clearance due to proximity of friendly. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. Charlie Company reports PFC Roy G. Otis Headquarters and Headquarter (Medic) working with them evac to 91 Evac with frag wounds to right thigh (see Charlie Company).
Alpha Company

At 0619 Alpha Company 87 elements moving for BS676556, Alpha Company using patrolling and day Ambush in their Area of Operation today. At 1125hrs 66 elements found 1 M-79 booby trap pressure device found at BS686576 destroyed. At 1630hrs Alpha Company 65 element found 1 booby trap bouncing betty pressure at BS698573, element had no demo so they dug it up took it to Day Logger to blow it M-16 anti personnel Lot 35-24, 14 years old. At 1705hrs Alpha Company 63 element at BS687563, received 1 round RPG fire from the west. Alpha Company Request Urgent Dust Off for # S1189, P-6286, C8942 KIA, Artillery fired into BS695575, 63 element was taking small arms fire as Dust Off went in, element total 3 rounds of 82mm, 1 inside the perimeter. At 1830hrs Alpha Company 63 element is sweeping through contact area at BS695575. At 1836hrs Alpha Company reports their locations 83, 39 and 53 elements is moving Night Defense Position to BS698553. Alpha Company 34, 53 and 83 in location at BS690550, 63 moving out, 24 elements moving to BS705538. SSGT CHARLES RAYMOND CONOVER evac to GRP Duc Pho large frag wound to head AND PFC RUSSELL CRAIG SCULLY (DIED OF WOUNDS Frag wounds to back and chest) ARE LISTED AS KHA. Alpha Company reports the following PFC Edward G. Pruitt with fag wounds back and right side of body where evac to 91st Evac Hospital.
Bravo Company

Charlie Company
September 1, 1970
At 0656hrs Charlie Company the 83 element in Day Logger at BS714435. At 0926hrs Charlie Company 26 and 27 element closed on BS752402, the 85 element closed on BS773367. At 1230hrs Charlie Company 66 element requested Urgent Dust Off for 3 US hit by hand frag from enemy pack also 2 Vietnamese children dust off with them completed at 1243hrs. Also sent in Line # 083, 099, 106, and 169 sent in on resupply bird with slight frag wounds. At 1350hrs Charlie Company 66 element wrap up, 4 US went to the river to bath, no radio and inform no one, there were about 10 Vietnamese children in the area, they were dressing, the frag was thrown by a personnel in the bushes. It was one of the children they did have one person pulling security, checked area with negative finding. At 1520hrs Charlie Company request routine Dust Off by the 66 element for #149, wounded earlier by hand frag and completed at 1526hrs. At 2007hrs Charlie Company 63 element Night Defense Position at BS740407 and at 2020hrs Charlie Company 34 Night Defense Position is at BS722425 with the 26 element moving to BS728447. Charlie Company reports SGT ------- R. Lincoln treated and released from Charlie Company 23 Medical frag wound left leg, SGT Edward W. Darzenkwici treated and released from Charlie Company 23 Medical multiple frag wounds both Buttocks, SP4 Ernesto L. Apodaca JR . to 91 Evac with frag wounds to left arm and right leg and PFC Roy G. Otis Headquarters and Headquarter (Medic) to 91 Evac with Frag wounds to right thigh.
Delta Company

At 0611hrs Delta Company 63 element is moving out for BS780402. At 0613hrs Delta Company 23 element moving to Day Logger at BS748402 with the 26 element is moving to BS754408. Delta Company continued to use multiply patrolling and some sweeps in their Area of Operation. At 2000hrs Delta Company the 23 element in location at BS726637, the 63 element is location BS780388, the 83 element is location at BS774366 and the 64 element is location at BS777386.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1335hrs Recon the 23 element is moving out to BS759440 and at 1450hrs Recon 23 patrol in reaction to the sighting on 312030hrs August 1970 of personnel moving outside the bunker line. Results found boot prints less than 24 hours old, in same vicinity as sightings detained 1 Vietnamese female at BS757437, negative ID was cutting wood at the time. Recon Platoon closed on LZ Liz and continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
