Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0002hrs TMF S-67B sighted a Stationary target, metal confirmation with negative clearance, due to proximity of Delta Company snake. At 0315hrs Brigade B-42 is approved as is until 020800hrs at 020800hrs to 102400hrs October 1970, B-42 is approved minus 2 western grids, the Area of Operation boundary moves from the 64 grid to the 66 grid. B 106 is approved as is until 011100hrs at 011000hrs to 102400hrs October 1970, B 106 is approved minus 2 western grids, (Area of Operation) boundary becomes the 66 grid line. At 0815hrs Brigade report to Headquarters immediately any loss from flood or water, including civilian dwellings etc. Battalion Maintain communications with District, and report civilian damage to TOC. At 0915hrs Bravo Troop 1-1 Calvary received following have picked up all Mechanical Ambushes with negative results, the 36 element is still attempting to move, however they have no progress to report at this time. At 0900hrs Brigade S-2 Phase 2 of T-30 campaign will begin at 032400hrs to 040130hrs October 1970, all units used necessary security precautions during that period, units are instructed not to use above Date/Time/ Grid by other than secure radio. At 1020hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC requests Area of Operation extension Date/Time/Grid ASAP to 102400hrs October 1970 from BS686590 to BS660590 to BS660540 to BS680540 to BS698530 northeast along road to BS733543 to BS726563 northwest along current Area of Operation boundary to start. Purpose Combat Operation approved by Brigade Area of Operation # B-52. At 1130hrs Bravo Company request Routine Dust Off have 1 pack snake bite on right hand, believed to be a poisonous, completed at 1150hrs. At 1150hrs Bravo Troop 1-1 Calvary the 16 element has closed on LZ Dragon with all their vehicles (5), Bravo Troop 1-1 Calvary (-) still not able to move. At 1205hrs Brigade requires status report on flood on Battalion Fire Support Base to include Battalion Jump Fire Support Base, send report hourly, and as serious situations occur. Also include civilian areas and highway 1, 1-20 Infantry is responsible for Situation Report on Highway 1 from LZ Bronco to LZ Liz. At 1230hrs 4-21 Infantry will have 2 packs arriving 1 October 1970 for relay for operations, be here approximately 5 days. At 1230hrs Bravo Troop 1-1 Calvary resupply 2 new batteries for a APC, 2 torsion bars for #3 and #4, road wheel for a APC, left U joint completed for APC, 55 gallons Diesel fuel. At 1240hrs TC & TL, Duc Pho and Mo Duc negative Sit Rep, except Mo Duc Bridge on highway 1 flooded, houses in immediate are flooded, MACV flooded, negative flood crest, negative need for evac. Fire Support Base Liz has negative situation, operational Access Road operational. At 1300hrs MACV Mo Duc, Duc Pho negative evac needed at this time. At 1340hrs Bravo Troop 1-1 Calvary the 26 element is out of mud, in high ground but surrounded by high water, the 36 element is 400 meters from old Night Defense Position, 4 vehicles on dry ground and 2 struck in mud. At 1430hrs MACV Mo Duc, MACV level of water remains the same no evacuation is needed at this time. Duc Pho is same as Mo Duc, negative evacuation, no additional flooding at this time. At 1515hrs Bravo Troop 36 element reports 2 vehicles still stuck. At 1915hrs MACV Nghia Hahn through Mo Duc arranged for 2 boats to evac Delta Company element from sandbar at first light call signs have been exchanged between the 2 elements. At 2020hrs TMF 2005hrs S-76 sighted stationary target, negative metal confirmation engaged with 6 HE rounds 105 Artillery. At 2050hrs Brigade Area of Operation extension request by 4 ARVN 4-4 regiment Date/Time/Grid 030800hrs to 081800hrs October 1970 BS7262 to BS7665 to BS788550 to BS7455, request disapproved by AEP III. At 2340hrs Bravo Troop 1-1 Calvary the 26 element at BS676557, the 36 element is at BS668558, the 36 element has 6-7 vehicles still stuck with 2 operational. Legend: 1st Platoon 54-59, 2nd Platoon 84-89, 3rd Platoon 34-39, 4th Platoon 04-09 and CO 12.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1950hrs Brigade reports no shipment of PRC 25 batteries in today, conserve what you have.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road. At 0900hrs Alpha Company reports Road Security is in position.
Bravo Company
October 1, 1970
Observed Target at 1130hrs Bravo Company requests a Priority Dust Off for Vietnamese, small arms fire in ankle, cancelled the Vietnamese will take care of him with their channels. At 1930hrs Bravo Company 58 element in location BS719636 and 36 is location at BS710585.
Charlie Company
October 1, 1970
At 0815hrs Charlie Company 34 element is moving to BS649516, the 54 element moving to BS645503 and the 84 element moving out to BS662498. At 1145hrs Charlie Company ordered to move to Dragon ASAP, be aware of enemy presence, watch for holes and reptiles if bitten kill and evacuate with personnel, mission tonight ambush along RR Berm from BS706560 to BS710540. At 1530hrs Charlie Company saw 5-6 personnel evading toward the mountains, Charlie Company opened fire, and rear element will check the area, the rest of Charlie Company will continue moving to LZ Dragon, engaged at 800 meters, with negative weapons, did see 1 rucksack. At 1800hrs Charlie Company closed on LZ Dragon. At 2145hrs Charlie Company at BS716536 while moving into their ambush the 34 element detected movement of unknown number approximately 6 at 800 meters to their front. Artillery requested and fired, with the 34 element checking with negative finding.
Delta Company

At 0905hrs Delta Company reports the 54 element in Day Logger at BS663573. At 1715hrs Delta Company 54 element request urgent Dust Off at BS663573 for 1 US water in lungs, sporadic breathings, element he was with got stuck on an island, rope was thrown across and this individual fell in Hill completed 1736hrs. At 1755hrs Delta Company 54 element is on an island caused by rising river, too swift and deep to cross, will stay there tonight, will watch to see if river is rising anymore, might need some assistance tomorrow. Island is 500 meters by 200 meters and 5-6 feet above water level at this time. Seem to have plenty of room, but keeping watchful eye on the river. Pass them the report from Brigade that Song Ve River was still raising at 1850hrs.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
