Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0605hrs Command message is given to all units. At 1400hrs Helix 33 FAC is putting an Air Strike into grid BS798473. At 1515hrs AJAX: Alpha Company 118, Bravo Company 113, Charlie Company 91, Delta Company (OPCON 4/21), And the Recon Platoon 26 the 4-2 Platoon 22. At 2240hrs Gun ships and FIREFLY we are moving up the beach off Tripoli and we will be checking out the 515 and at 2345hrs they report they are breaking station.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company

At 0013hrs Alpha Company we just received 2 incoming rounds (82 Mortar) Bunker 20, negative casualties. Alpha Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. The 55 snake in out on a night ambush.
Bravo Company
October 1, 1969
At 0646hrs Bravo Company are in our Day Logger at grid BS776423. At 1240hrs Bravo Company at grid BS776423 we have one VCS, about 15 and picked him up at our Day Logger. The PRU say he his VC and has been working on the gaze strip. We will tag him and send him in to Military Intelligence at Duc Pho. At 1610hrs Bravo Company the 82 element will be leaving their location and returning to the Day Logger. Bravo Company moves into their Night Defense Position with 4 Ambushes and with 86 ambush being sprung at 1940hrs and they then moved about 120 meters north and set up again.
Charlie Company

At 0621hrs Charlie Company we are moving out from the Night Defense Position to our Day Logger. At 0655hrs the 82 element will use Recon in Force to grid BS820430 on their Search and Clear Mission. The 82 element Charlie Company returned to the Day Logger and the 52 element is moving out to BS829439 to BS833436 to BS824431 and to BS821436. Charlie Company tonight Night Defense Position is at BS824430 and the 72 and 62 element will join with the 52 element, Ajax for today is 91.
Delta Company

OPCON to the 4-21 Infantry and at 1410hrs Delta Company is located at BS861248 using multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation and established the Night Defense Position at BS860252.
Echo Company
October 1, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. 4.2 reports Schedule Mission 5, Observe Mission 3, Unobserved Missions 2 total expend 43 HE, 4 WP, and Illumination 2 rounds, . Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0528hrs Recon we are now leaving the wire at LZ Liz. At 0620hrs Recon reports we are at checkpoint 1 vicinity BS776417.
At 0830hrs Recon Platoon while moving to checkpoint 2 we found a tunnel complex and one bunker at BS749408. We will remain at this location and check it out and then move to checkpoint 3. At 0910hrs Recon Platoon are now at checkpoint 2 at BS740402. At 1025hrs Recon Platoon while moving to checkpoint 3 we came upon a pile of logs which had a sign on it. The Kit Carson Scout said there was a booby trap there. We checked it out found 1 booby trap and blew it in place. We found another booby trap and marked just as the other one was an 81 Mortar round and we blew it in place. At 1315hrs Recon Platoon reports that we have closed on LZ Liz.
