Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0115hrs Bravo Company in action which started about 2200hrs and investigated by Colonel Fischer, Major Tung, Major Ward and CPT Harris (1) PF was killed in a bunker on the northeast side of the Twin Ville (See Bravo Company). At 0430hrs Radar on LZ Liz report at 1907hrs 4-6 personnel were spotted at BS737467 and engaged with 9 HE of 4.2 Mortar and at 2030hrs 8 to 10 personnel moving east at grid BS773489 and engaged with 8 HE rounds of Artillery 155mm. At 2200hrs Radar on LZ Liz spotted 3-5 stationary personnel were spotted at BS812452 and engaged with 18 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar and then at 0250hrs 4-5 stationary personnel were engaged at BS794470 with 6 HE rounds of Artillery 155mm. At 0425hrs spotted another 10 to 19 personnel moving west at BS7334463 and engaged with 6 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar. At 0525hrs Radar sighted 6 to 9 personnel moving west at BS740410 and engaged with 6 HE of 4.2 Mortar. At 0720hrs 1-20 Infantry Commanding Officer left Liz and returned at 0822hrs and left for Chu Lai and returned at 1128hrs. At 0820hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Brigade Commander arrived at LZ Liz and left at 0855hrs. At 1501hrs The Division Commander arrived at LZ Liz, S-2 briefed and left at 1525hrs. At 1830hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Brigade was informed of the following personnel at the listed locations. North Bridge 175 RF Company and 1 US squad, Twin Ville (Ville of Vien Hien (5), Vien Hien (3) Dan Hinh Chang, Can Sat Duc and My Tanan) 183 and 184 PF platoon, Mortar platoon and US Platoon. Along with Van Truong 185 RF Company, Mortar Platoon and 1 US Squad, Bravo Company Command Post and 169 PF Company 1 US Squad and the Company Command Position (no civilians). Also on the South Bridge location we have 147 RF Company and 1 US squad and Duc Pho 169 RF Company and 1 US squad (no civilians). At 2138hrs MACV Mo Duc informed 1-20 Infantry of the following grids at which they are located BS765530, BS766530 and BS769531. All 3 Vietnamese units will be in 1-20 Infantry operation tomorrow. Their call signs are Northern element is Echo 6, Southern element is M-26, and the middle element is Echo 6. Also MACV Mo Duc was informed that operations tomorrow, will be on Bravo Company internal- 62.30 Whiskey November.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and will continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0807hrs Alpha Company the 21 element is moving to BS758369, the 01 element is at BS780350 and the 61 element is at BS769364. At 0920hrs Alpha Company 61 found a hootch made of VC ponchos with various broken medical tools, VC type batteries and documents. Believe the hooch was used for making booby traps, we will gather the finding for extraction. We are also blowing a dud 105mm round grid BS766355. At 0947hrs Alpha Company 01 found 4-6 sleeping positions recently used also the remains of 4 fires and several macheral cans grid BS785456. At 1105hrs Alpha Company 01at at grid BS791364 we have found fresh campsite, fish cans, Vietnamese batteries and 50’ of commo wire. At 1800hrs Alpha Company we are at our Night Defense Position at BS771351 with 2 snakes in position 04 at BS750366 and 24 at BS755335.
Bravo Company

At 0115hrs Bravo Company in action which started about 2000hrs and investigation by LTC Fischer, Major Tung, Major Ward and CPT. Harris one PF was killed in a bunker on the northeast side of the Twin Ville, Two US Sgt Gatton and PFC Church fired three rounds from their weapons. A guard had started a fire to burn trash outside their bunker. The US thought the PF trying to burn their bunker and Gatton stated that he shot in the air and Church said he did not aim at the bunker. After this automatic weapons fire broke out in the Twin Ville area. It did not come from the US bunker. Sgt Gatton ran forward out of the bunker and hit the PF who was holding a torch with his fist. At 0600hrs snakes were closing and the 25 element was starting their patrol at 0645hrs. At 1711hrs the 25 element closed on BS783433, 61 closed on BS778445 and 64 closed on BS771461. At 1830hrs Bravo Company locations are North Bridge 172 RF Company and 1 US squad, Twin Ville (Ville of Vien Hien (5), Vien Hien (3), Ban Hin Chang, Can Sat Duoc and My Tanan) 183 and 184 PF Platoons, mortar platoon with US Platoon with 1 US squad. Also Bravo Company has one US Squad with 169 RF Company (no civilians) at Duc Pho. By 1955hrs 03 Bravo Company reports snake to BS794409, 24 is at BS787428 and 03 is at BS794409, and Report of incident in morning was one PF KIA by friendly fire.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1032hrs Charlie Company the 34 element has request a priority Dust Off for one VC child, was hit by a Vietnamese vehicle at BS786473 completed at 1114hrs. At 1032hrs Charlie Company the 24 element requested a priority Dust Off, for 1 VC child, she was hit by a Vietnamese vehicle at BS765473 and competed at 1114hrs. At 1925hrs Charlie Company the 65 element has moved to BS765437 and is roving to BS770438, 65A is roving from BS760436 to BS765437 and 65B is roving from BS770438 to BS775442.
Delta Company
March 1, 1970
At 0710hrs Delta Company the 21 element at Day Logger at BS823459, Delta Company 01 at Day logger at BS830445. At 0826hrs Delta Company 02 has one 155mm round and will blow it in place. At 1100hrs Delta Company elements are in their respective Day loggers. At 1305hrs Delta Company reports tonight Night Defense Position is at BS805465, the 63 snake is at BS790487 and the 23 snake is at BS790484with the 03 snake will be at BS794448. At 2014hrs Delta Company at grid BS811457 the 01 element found clothing for about 2-3 personnel, men and woman. This clothing was Vietnamese civilian type, we found one Vietnamese hat and one GI gas mask cover, new type, and inside the cover we found a toothbrush and ink pens. There was a small amount of rice and tea with clothing along with two Vietnamese letters which we will send the items in tomorrow. At 2025hrs Delta Company reports their Night Defense Position is at BS805465, the 63 snake is at BS790455, the 23 snake is at BS790474, and the 03 snake will be at BS794448. Tomorrow we will block from BS804490 to BS790484 and to BS790457 and our Day Logger will be at BS796464
Echo Company
March 1, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fires 4 and Observed Missions expend 59 HE, 15 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Stand Down at Chu Lai.
