At 0825hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Bravo Company at 0820hrs vicinity BS773456, Bravo 18 on bridge guard received 5 round of sniper fire return fire with results 1 old man KIA was innocent civilian. At 1020hrs Bravo and Charlie Companies 3-1 Infantry reports locations B 45 closed on 44 at BS744531, Charlie 74 at BS789403, 14 at BS804370, 44 at BS829358 and rest on LZ Bronco. At 1130hrs E Troop 1st Calvary: convoy heading south departed 1125hrs escorted for artillery convoy from LZ Liz to LZ Bronco will arrive at Liz at 1200hrs. At 1310hrs 1-20 Infantry at 1310hrs vicinity BS641535 Command and Control Helicopter went down while exchanging SRRP teams 11 personnel including crew on board caught in down draft as landing the Air Craft is burning casualties not known at present no key personnel on board. Final Total: 9 US KHA and 2 WHA (M) evac. At 1800hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Bravo and Charlie Companies 3-1 Infantry night locations Charlie 14 at BS797372, 19 at BS7994377, 44-94 at BS835363, 74 at BS775405 and 79 at BS794399. Also Bravo Company 3-1 Infantry reports locations at 44 at BS718538, 75 at BS716377, 14 at BS725546, 15 at BS728548, 94 at BS723405, and 79 at BS794399. At 1920hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry at 1915hrs vicinity BS780400 engaged 3 VC evaded southeast and then north had m-16 negative results. At 1850hrs as Brigade inserts LRRP tonight at BS644537 they will extract SRRP Dutch. At 2035hrs Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry at BS787386 engaged 3 VC moving, southeast with automatic weapons, negative assessment, VC evading northeast. At 2150hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz at BS761430 observed 4 VC 200 meters east of LZ Liz, fired 81mm mortars with unknown results. At 2345hrs Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry at BS796403 spotted 3 VC in open, called in artillery, results 2 VC KIA (unconfirmed), checked area with starlight scope and observed 1 VC with M-60 machinegun, called in artillery with unknown results.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. LZ Bronco at 0105hrs received 3 round of 75 RR resulting in 3 US KHA and 5 WHA (M) and 2 US WHA (E) from 23 Medical, return fire with counter mortar and artillery on enemy location at 829409. At 0432hrs MACV Duc Pho received 5 rounds 82 mortar rounds results 1 Vietnamese KIA and 2 Vietnamese WIA evac to LZ Bronco. At 1630hrs HHC 1-20 Infantry, vicinity BS823682 at 1545hrs on sweep of LZ Bronco perimeter found 1 Smith and Weston .38 pistols serial # 351244 was hidden under a stack of bricks 100 meters south of bunker 46.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company secured LZ Charlie Brown with local ambushes and today 1 Platoon conducts saturation patrolling vicinity BS9222. At 1020hrs Alpha Company location Alpha Company 14 element is located at BS924224 and at 1205hrs 14 element at BS917257 with 15 at BS918227. At 1430hrs Alpha Company closes on LZ Charlie Brown. SP4 JOHN WILLIAM MASSEY JR. LISTED AS KHA (DOW check February 28, 1969). Alpha Company reports that PFC Frank Jancewicz and SP4 Vin Kucmierwski where evac to 312th Evac Hospital sick at 0800hrs.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and provided security for Bridge 124, today conducts local saturation defense patrols vicinity LZ Liz.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company secured LZ Thunder with local ambushes and today remained on LZ Thunder.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon today with 1 platoon conducted Recon in Force to BS7253. At 1310hrs 1-20 Infantry Command and Control Helicopter (Vicinity BS641534) in the Quang Ngai Province about 5 Miles southwest of Mo Duc was exchanging SRRP teams of personnel at the OP on the second and the final lift (The Helicopter Crew was KIA) when about 50 ft above the ground there appeared to be a Power Loss. (Delta Company KIA CPL JAMES ADOLF CRAFT, SP4 THOMAS LEE GAINES JR., SGT RODNEY MICHAEL GOODE, SP4 JIMMY RAY GROSS, CPL DAVID EUGENE LOVEGREN Delta Company is LISTED AS KIA/MIA NON-HOSTILE. (HELICOPTER-NONCREW AIR LOSS, CRASH ON LAND) the 174th Crew Members: AC WO1 DAVIS RAY RENE, P WO1 HARRIS EDWARD LEWIS, CE SP4 ZARINA DONN PETER, AND G PFC SCHULZE DAVID EDWARD, LISTED as KIA, NON-HOSTILE, HELICOPTER CREW AIR LOSS, CRASH ON LAND. Two WIA were Med-Evac to hospital SP4 Donald H Hotch and SP4 Jesse D Bickers. Questions SP4 Charlie Keith was also evac to 312th Evac Hospital (possible was sick).
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on Charlie Brown, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 2040hrs Recon Platoon at BS760435 observed 5 VC in the open engage area with unknown results.
