Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1047hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer we request an Urgent Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese child about 13 years old who stepped on an unknown type booby trap which blew off the bottom part of 1 leg, Completed at 1050hrs at grid BS730612. At 1840hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer reports Land clearing 10 areas BS735611 to BS735613 to BS736609 to BS738613 and destroyed 1 WP Hand grenade booby trap.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
July 1, 1970
Alpha Company is now OPCON to 4-3 Infantry. At 0910hrs Alpha Company 14 element found a small trail with 2 sleeping positions for 2 people in each, approximately 2 days old. At 1200hrs Alpha Company is located at BS501407 and by 1628hrs Alpha Company is located at BS498411 working in the DA Vach Mountains with Search and Clear Operations. Alpha Company set up their Night Defense Position with 3 ambushes and 3 mechanical ambushes.
Bravo Company
July 1, 1970
Bravo Company continued their joint Operations with PF and RF units on their Hamlet Pacification and security of Highway 1. At 0525hrs Bravo Company the 35 element has closed and has picked up their Mechanical Ambushes. At 0810hrs Bravo Company all elements are in location with trucks. At 0900hrs Bravo Company trucks and Bravo Company is moving to BS735655, the 34 element is drop off at BS712583 at 0925hs. At 1045hrs Bravo 34 element received 50 to 60 rounds of small arms sniper fire from BS701590 with 2 PF WIA and Dust Off was requested. Bravo Company engaged with Artillery and gun ships requested Dust Off at BS712593 completed at 1059hrs. Line #47 received burns on the arm from a M-60 during contact and Purple Heart is requested. At 1140hrs Bravo Company the 34 element is at BS712583, the 14 element is at BS770662 and the 17 element is at BS682607. At 1845hrs Bravo Company the 56 element is moving to BS740645 and the 58 element is moving to BS733637. SP4 Gilbert W. Alvarado was treated and released at B 23 Medical for burns to Right Arm.
Charlie Company

At 1425hrs Charlie Company are in our Day Logger at BS798442. At 1927hrs we are in our Night Defense Position at BS798443. The Charlie Company reports 16, 17, 35 and 36 elements are moving into their snake locations and the 34 is in location.
Delta Company
July 1, 1970
At 1235hrs Delta Company we are taking over the defense of Liz at this time. At 1909hrs late Report: We picked up 2 male detainees before moving on Liz, one says he is 12 and is wearing a brown shirt and blue pants and the other detainee with negative ID and wearing a black shirt and black pants. The people in the area say they have not seen these people before. They will be evacuated to Duc Pho MACV. The Delta Company receive report on the two detainees are VC, grid BS716636 Report from MACV. At 2025hrs Delta Company all access road security is in location.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Mission 1 for a total expended of 48 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0654hrs Recon all snakes have closed on their Day Logger and all elements are in location a BS754547 at 0710hrs. At 0715hrs Recon 24 element engaged 3 NVA with packs (no weapons seen) all dressed in blue uniforms at approximately 250 meters to their southeast. The result is 1 female NVA WIA/CIA approximately 26 years old. She was shot in both hands with no equipment captured. Dust Off completed at 0735hrs at grid BS754547.
