Headquarters and Headquarter Company
July 1, 1968

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1025hrs 1-20 Infantry from Major Clifford, does the 1-20 Infantry have any bridge to secure in the Area of Operation extension other than Bridge 94, Major Smith said no only Bridge 94. At 1725hrs 1-20 Infantry reports move of Recon Platoon from LZ Bronco to Special Forces Camp Minh Long was completed.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. Headquarters Company reports the following SP5 Harvey J. Blackie and SP5 William H. Harvey where sick and attached to 2nd Surgical Hospital.

 

Alpha Company
July 1, 1968

At 1117hrs Alpha Company at BS765350 engaged 1 VC with pack results 1 VC KIA. Pack contained "C" rations and note book was moving northeast to southwest. At 1832hrs Alpha Company is located at BS764344. At 2015hrs Alpha Company is located at BS755355. Alpha 6 has a fire at BS755355 so far has burned 1000 square meters and is burning northeast will not effect night operations.

 

Bravo Company
July 1, 1968

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1517hrs Bravo Company at BS835372 observed 3 VCS captured 1, 1 successfully evaded and 1 hid in a tunnel threw grenade results 1 VC KIA and 1 M-1 Carbine CIA #7328077. Also found 2 hammock, first aid kit, 2 grenades and a pistol belt. At 1832hrs Bravo Company back on LZ Thunder.

 

Charlie Company
July 1, 1968

At 1832hrs Charlie Company is located in their Night Defense Position at BS855265.

 

Delta Company
July 1, 1968

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown.

 

Echo Company
July 1, 1968

Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support, for the Battalion. At 1725hrs 1-20 Infantry reports move of Recon Platoon from LZ Bronco to Special Forces Camp Minh Long was completed. SGT Larry J. Arnold was evac to 6th Support Battalion at 1700hrs with gunshot wounds. Then he was evac to 2nd Surgical Hospital.
