Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0920hrs Helix reports 9 personnel are moving northeast vicinity BS759383. 6 personnel are at BS755379 and a group of people standing around 150 meters from grid BS759383 due west. 9 personnel moved north after crossing the river, 5 personnel are carrying baskets and heading east at the south edge of our Area of Operation. At 0945hrs Gate Guard 1 informed us that the access road is closed due to a dud M79 round in the road. The road opened up again at 1025hrs. At 1328hrs Battalion Commanding Officer departed LZ Liz for Charlie Company and returned to LZ Liz at 1525hrs. At 1520hrs Division Commander landed at LZ Liz at 1520hrs and the Battalion Commander accompanied him to Brigade at 1543hrs. At 1545hrs Brigade Commander arrived at LZ Liz and was briefed by the S-3 and departed at 1555hrs. At 1835hrs 1-20 Infantry reports AJAX Alpha 103, Bravo 125. Charlie 94, Delta 97, Recon 27 4.2 Platoon 27. At 1920hrs all units air ground and administration Log will be used only for re supply and contacting the Bud Pad.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0845hrs Alpha Company request Urgent Dust Off for one US with the possibility of having spinal meningitis, and the Command and Control helicopter makes the Dust Off at 0845hrs. At 1830hrs Alpha Company are moving into our Night Defense Position at BS798484. At 1910hrs Alpha Company reports their night locations with 44 at BS788496, 45 at BS789483, 46 is at BS790480, 24 is at BS791477 and the 25 is at BS791474.
Bravo Company

At 0723hrs Bravo Company reports the 13 element has closed on BS776446 and the 23 element on BS783433. At 0826hrs Bravo Company the 28 is closing on their semi permanent position. At 0837hrs Bravo Company the 45 element will be 400 meters east of our Command Post and blowing some trees. At 1005hrs Bravo Company Urgent Dust Off requested for 1 Vietnamese female who picked up a dud M-79 round and it went off resulting in severe frag wounds, completed at 1010hrs. At 1330hrs Bravo Company locations are 25 will be a blocking force at BS777419, the 24 element will patrol from BS771410, BS771313, and BS777419. They will link up with the 25 element can move out at 0630hrs. The 26 snake with 5 PF will be at BS788414, the 25 snake will be at BS784423 with 11 PF, the 28 element will patrol from BS785390, BS794394, BS800382, and will move out at 0700hrs. The 06 element with 8 PF snake at BS775457 at 1830hrs and then they will go from this position to BS779459 at first light. The 04 element with 5 PF will patrol to BS795437, BS809432, and BS788450 at 0630hrs. At 1910hrs 1 female came into the Charlie Company Command Post and informed them that there are 20 VC at grid BS788442 and they are planning on attacking the Bravo Company perimeter tonight.
Charlie Company

At 0135hrs Charlie Company at our Command Post Night Defense Position (BS735460) we had one VC/NVA walking down a rice paddy dike heading straight into our perimeter. We will check out the area at first light. We had no choice but to engage the person. At 0845hrs we will secure the rice harvest at BS7345, BS7445, BS7344, and BS7444. At 1310hrs Charlie Company has a Routine Dust Off 1 US with a temp 105 (possibly malaria) ETA 20 minutes completed 1350hrs. At 1510hrs Charlie Company our Night Defense Position will be at BS735450, the 08 snake at BS728450 and the 28 snake at BS734442. At 1700hrs Charlie Company all the blocking forces have returned to BS735450 and the 44 element found on unexpended smoke grenade. The packing was pulled out and replaced with C4 with time fuse and a firing pin and etc, the engineers blew it in place. At 2130hrs Charlie Company Urgent Dust Off one US who is bleeding from the month, the caused and nature of wound unknown. He was admitted for observation pick up site BS735450 ETA 15 minutes completed 2155hrs. PFC Bruce W.Nims ? attached to 91st evac Hospital.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and at 1700hrs Delta Bunkers was inspected by CPT Whitaker. Delta Company reports at 1905hrs the following Delta Company snakes are in position 07 BS758414, 56 BS764437, 06 BS766438, and 26 BS770439.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0553hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fires 2 for a total expended of 20 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1910hrs Recon Platoon we are in our Night Defense Position at BS766390.
