Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0850hrs Helix 03 at BS703546 engage location 1 secondary fire, 2 spider holes destroyed and 1 structure damage. At 1645hrs Helix 33 at BS770515 engaged location and 1 structure destroy and possible KIA. At 0802hrs Helix 33 at BS770490 spotted 2 dinks evading to east towards the tree line. At 1800hrs 1-20 Infantry reports SRRP location spotted 8 more dinks at location BS786395 where they spotted 17 dinks before.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. Alpha Company is in for their Stand Down.

Bravo Company
January 1, 1969
At 0800hrs Bravo Company conducted a Combat Assault from LZ Dragon to LZ at BS800429 LZ was cold. Bravo Company at 0815hrs BS778485 engaged 1 VC evading with result of 1 VC KIA. At 0855hrs at BS802437 detained 5 VCS for questioning. At 1250hrs found and destroyed 1 (155) round and detain 1 VC for Questions and at 1415hrs received automatic fire, with negative casualties and responded with Artillery. Bravo Company at 1730hrs vicinity BS704450 tripped 81mm and 1 hand grenade booby trap with 6 US WHA (E).
Charlie Company

At 1010hrs Charlie Company (-) has the Security Mission for LZ Liz, with 31 element Blocking Force at BS728427, SRRP at BS732377 TTABQVIL, 41 element at BS756495. After 1100hrs Charlie Company 31 element with 3 VCS is evac to LZ Liz. At 1405hrs Charlie Company 31 at BS723536 with rest of company at LZ Dragon and at 1841hrs Charlie Company 41 has a snake at BS758453 with the 31 element back at Liz.
Delta Company

At 1010hrs Delta Company is at LZ Dragon. Delta Company at 1040hrs at BS712506 detained 5 VCS for questioning and at 1121hrs Delta Company at BS723563 tipped pressure type booby trap, with negative casualties. Delta Company is back on LZ Dragon with the 41element snake at BS717532 and at 2025hrs Delta Company saw some movement and firing 81mm HE on it.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1010hrs Recon Platoon reports it SRRP location at BS697414. At 1658hrs Recon Platoon report to be at BS726395 noticed 17 VC along trail and report two with weapons. At 1845hrs Recon Platoon from their OP report 2 VC moving along the trail and fired artillery with result 1 VC hit and other went into the hedgerow.
