Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0405hrs Radar sighted 5 to 6 stationary personnel at grid BS763423. We engaged with 4.2 Mortar rounds 9 HE and 2 Illumination for IOS to check out the area. At 0602hrs Radar sighted 20 to 25 personnel moving to the southeast at grid BS725443 negative clearance due to the proximity of Alpha Company. At 1040hrs the Brigade S-3 arrived at LZ Liz was briefed and left at 1120hrs. At 1630hrs 1-20 Infantry reports all bunkers are in good condition and all have plumb bobs, Charlie Company inspected by CPT Donavan, 1-82 by SGT Thompson, HHC by CPT Holmes, and Rear Bunkers by SGT Talimine. At 1800hrs AJAX Alpha 110, Bravo 99, Charlie 112, and Delta 98, 4.2 34, At 2045hrs Radar sighted 4 to 5 stationary personnel at grid BS776518 we engaged with 8 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 2140hrs Radar sighted 4 to 5 stationary personnel at grid BS791467 we engaged with 2 WP of 4.2 Mortar rounds. At 2315hrs IOS sighted 1 light, stationary, at grid BS796168, negative clearance was given due to the proximity of Recon Platoon Will Scarlet. At 2350hrs 1-20 Infantry all units notified of the SOI change at 020001 February 1970. At 2340hrs IOS sighted 1 light, stationary, at grid BS778493/ we engaged with 10 HE rounds of Artillery 155mm.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0702hrs Alpha Company all snakes have closed on BS736446. At 0945hrs Alpha Company are blowing 2 family bunkers at our old Night Defense Position site at BS736446. At 1116hrs Alpha Company we are at grid BS757455. At 1210hrs Alpha Company we are at grid BS754457. At 1225hrs Alpha Company the 63 element has closed on BS736446 with negative results on the sweep to BS725431. At 1945hrs Alpha Company snakes are in location the 93 snake at BS763457, 53 at BS734456, the 64 snake at BS763450, the 54 snake is at BS745457, the 65 snake at BS747465 and the 55 snake is at BS736465 and we are in our Night Defense Position.
Bravo Company

At 0616hrs Bravo Company 66 element has closed on their semi-permanent position and at 0655hrs Bravo Company 58 and Gorilla elements have closed on BS783433. At 0710hrs Bravo Company the 68 element is moving to BS790378. Bravo Company and Recon Platoon Combat Assault at 0750hrs 1st PZ Bravo Company and Recon to the Gaza strip and last LZ 0903hrs. At 0840hrs Bravo Company requested a Urgent Dust Off for one US multiple frag wounds, he trip a booby trapped Chi Com grenade (Tripwire) completed at 0852hrs. Name: Bass grid BS775465 (Believe it is Jimmie L. Bass). At 0852hrs Bravo Company the 68 element closed on BS794380. At 1000hrs Bravo Company the 92 element is at grid BS790483 and we found one NVA canteen, one US canteen cup, 2 pair of black shorts, and one VC/NVA rain suit. The 53 element blew 5 bunkers at BS778476, and the 31 element blew 3 more bunkers at BS783472. The Vietnamese are relocating all the civilians in the area. At 1010hrs Bravo Company the 97 element has closed on the North Bridge alone with the 96 element. He had no ID and was a sampan and believed KBA. At 1030 Bravo Company reports 53 element closed on BS783433 and at 1035hrs 21 also closed on BS783433. At 1115hrs the 21 element at grid BS783478 found one military age male KIA wearing black pajamas. At 1117hrs Bravo Company at grid BS770468 the 92 element has 3 male VC detainees, ages 30 to 35 with no ID’s and 1 female VC detainee age 30 with no ID. The Vietnamese say they are confirmed VC. At 1150hrs The Bravo 92 element has closed on BS783433. At 1342hrs Bravo Company we request an Urgent Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese child who was run over by a Vietnamese vehicle ETA 5 to 10 minutes completed at 1350hrs at grid BS771461. At 1930hrs Bravo Company the 53 element and PF new snake location is at BS783445. Tomorrow we will have Day ambushes at BS764448 and BS774446. At 1850hrs the Ranger element is moving to BS790446 and at 1930hrs Bravo 53 and PF new snake location is at BS783437. At 2040hrs Bravo Company the 66 element is at BS794409, the 97 element is at BS783462 and the 96 element is at BS787455. At 2120hrs Bravo Company the 98 element spotted 1 VC at grid BS783462 about 200 meters north in a rice paddy, we engaged with small arms fire. We will proceed to check out the area of the North Bridge have negative results. At 2125hrs Bravo Company 97 element at grid BS772462 received one round of incoming 60mm from and unknown location. We return fire with artillery around the North Bridge with negative results. At 2240hrs The 55 element and Rangers are at BS783437 and BS790446.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is on LZ Liz and taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0937hrs Charlie Company reports all snakes have closed on LZ Liz. At 1630hrs Charlie Company inspected by CPT Donovan, all Bunkers are in good condition and all have plumb bobs. At 1934hrs Charlie Company reports all snakes are moving to the following girds 55 to BS759446, 56 at BS765437, the 66 to BS771440 and 95 to BS775443. At 2055hrs Charlie Company all our snakes are at checkpoint 2, the 56 snake is at BS763437, the 66 snake is at BS768439, the 95 snake is at BS773442 and the 55 snake is at BS759446.
Delta Company

At 0715hrs Delta Company reports all snakes have closed on BS739406. At 0716hrs Delta Company request urgent Dust Off 1 US, Patton wound received shrapnel wounds of abdomen results from last night Friendly fire M-79 at 0617hrs completed at 0720hrs pick up from LZ Liz. At 0800hrs Delta Company at grid BS736406, while checking out the area of hedge rows where we got the VC KIA last night, we found a bundle of documents he was some kind of messenger. At 1555hrs Delta Company the 53, 63, 23 elements are at BS764384 and the 93 element is staying at their Night Defense Position at BS739406. At 1730hrs Delta Company the 93 element conducts a Combat Assault 1st PZ from BS739406 at 1745hrs and LZ to BS775385 at 1750hrs. At 1900hrs Delta Company the 54 element engaged 1 VC at grid BS735406, the results was 1 VC KIA with a US pistol belt and 2 pineapple grenades. He had an empty rucksack and wore a light blue uniform. The VC appeared to be a little over weight. At 1900hrs Delta Company reports we are in our Night Defense Position at BS739406. At 1950hrs Delta Company has Multiple snakes out 93 snake at BS773381, 94 at BS769373, 95 at BS782375, 54 at BS754398, 55 at BS758382, 64 at BS767389, 65 at BS762382 and the 66 element is at BS762375 and all closed by 2000hrs. SP4 Robert L. Patton was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0600hrs 4.2 Platoon reports we had Supporting Fires, 10, Observed Missions 2 Unobserved Mission 1, Defense Targets 4 with total expended 50 HE, 6 WP, 2 Illumination and 9 C/S rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0825hrs Bravo Company and Recon conducts a Combat Assault to the Gaza Strip 1st PZ 0750hrs and Last LZ at 0903hrs. At 1020hrs the Little John element found 1 camouflaged hootch and bunker complex and blew them in place. The Will Scarlet element found 1 camouflaged bunker and 1 dud 105 Artillery round, which where also blown in place grid BS803473. At 1130hrs Recon reports location at grid BS798462. The Little John element found a camouflaged bunker and a 105 Dud round, and we blew them in place, there was a little rice in the bunker. At 1310hrs 1-20 Infantry to Recon at 0600hrs you will block from BS788473 to BS813473. Have 1 radio on April Riot push and 1 radio on Blades frequency. April Riot will meet your blocking position. At 1322hrs Recon Platoon reports Robin Hood snake location is at grid BS791473, Will Scarlet is at BS793488 and Little Al’s is at BS797463. At 1332hrs 1-20 Infantry to Recon Robin Hood and Will Scarlet snake can remain the same, however the Little Al snake will move to the vicinity of BS790462, give us the exact location as soon as possible. At 1550hrs Recon the Little John element has closed on BS798462 and the Little Al element is moving to the south at grid BS800450. At 1614hrs Recon reports we are now moving to the north and the Little Al element has closed. At 1944hrs Recon Platoon reports Robin Hood element is in its Night Defense Position at BS791473. Little Al is at it snake, location at BS797463 and Will Scarlet is at it snake location at BS793488. At 2315hrs IOS sighted 1 light, stationary, at grid BS796468, negative clearance was given due to the proximity of Recon Will Scarlet.
