Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0715hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry we are moving out on today operation on BS790383. At 0745hrs MACV the Vietnamese will not be working do to the Buddhist Holiday. At 0810hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry we are set up to secure the Land Clearing at BS766513 and last night last Night Defense Position and tonight will be the same. At 0832hrs MACV we will have friendly civilians cutting bamboo at BS7651. At 1335hrs The Battalion Commanding Officer picked up 2 male detainees, 15 to 25 with no ID at BS735546, 1 dressed in all black, and 1 was dressed in all blue. At 1515hrs Brigade Re supply chopper will be on station from 1030hrs to 1200hrs and 1545hrs to 1745hrs. A LOH will be on station from 0800hrs to 1000hrs. At 1737hrs 26 Engineer the status report on the Land Clearing Operation is as follows, no mines or booby traps, 3 bunkers were destroyed, 2 105 rounds, 1 155 round and 1 US Rocket were destroyed, and area 500 meters by 500 meters 61 acres was cleared. We have 5 D7 dossiers operational and 1 D7 deadline with radiator trouble. At 2210hrs Brigade to 1-20 Infantry the VC WIA by Charlie Company got today is a member of C 19. There are approximately 35 men in his unit with B40, B 41 and 1 anti aircraft machinegun. When the 1-20 Infantry made the Combat Assault this unit was moving east to Duc Long Ville (BS7556) to avoid Allied Operations.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0702hrs Alpha Company reported on last night’s incoming we had 5 incoming rounds of 82mm of which 3 went off. All of them landed on the western side of the perimeter at BS793436 and are still looking for 2 dud rounds. At 0725hrs Alpha Company 38 elements is access road security for today.
Bravo Company

At 0230hrs Bravo Company the 36a element made small contact with 2 to 3 VC who come from the east and evaded back to the east at BS815402, results 1 PF was wounded (minor) and the area was checked out with negative finding. At 0600hrs Bravo Company request routine Dust Off for 1 PF with gunshot wound to the leg, was the one injured in the contact last night and was completed at 0642hrs. At 0746hrs Bravo Company 76 element and the 36a element had completed checking the area of contact with negative finding. Bravo Company with PF units still be conducting saturation patrolling and Day Ambushes in their Area of Operation.
Charlie Company

At 0630hrs Charlie Company the 56 element has closed on the Night Defense Position at BS790383 and the 78 element is moving out to check out the area for the action last night at BS786370. At 0735hrs Charlie Company 78 in checking the area where the mortars were fired from last night we found 3 sleeping positions and a trail maker, consisting of a big rock with small ones stacked on top with a stick in the top of the pile. The Kit Carson Scout says it is a booby trap maker. At 0920hrs all element are moving to the 169 PF compound at BS794380 and at 1000hrs S-4 Delta Company arrived at Dragon Air Strip at BS724537 and we are moving back to pick up Charlie Company. At 1145hrs all elements are at Dragon airstrip. At 1300hrs Charlie Company conducts a Combat Assault with at 1305hrs 1st PZ at BS724537 to BS750548 and last LZ at 1340hrs to BS755555. At 1455hrs Charlie Company 54, 39, and 94 element is at BS746575 with the 54 element in Day Logger is at BS760464 and the 74 element Day Logger is at BS754589. At 1500hrs the 34 found 2 81mm plastic canisters stuffed with marijuana near a hootch. At 1509hrs the 74 element found a 155 round, dud, 100 meter west of their LZ and blew it in place. At 1540hrs Charlie Company 76 detained two male VCS at BS760564 with no ID and wearing purple pants and picked up at the 74 element Day Logger. At 1640hrs Charlie Company the 3 VC that were in this area at 1000hrs when the helicopters came in they evaded to the northwest at BS746574, 2 males with M-16 and 1 female with pack. They were also here yesterday and heard us coming and moved toward the Red Ball. At 1745hrs Bravo Company at 1130hrs Charlie Company was moving up the Red Ball to LZ Dragon and someone threw some C rations from a truck and a Vietnamese child, 10 years old, went to get them. Someone from the truck fired an M-79 round which hit the child, and the Military Police took the child to Duc Pho and the matter is being investigated. At 1830hrs Charlie Company 39, 53 and 94 elements are moving to the Command Post and Night Defense Position at BS743575. At 1940hrs the 77 element was moving to their snake location and they ran upon 2 VC who evaded to the south, with negative finding at BS755582. At 2010hrs Charlie Company the 58 element made contact with unknown number of VC at 50 meters to their front as they were moving to their snake location. We got one VC KIA and one VC WIA that will require a Dust Off completed at 2135hrs at grid BS743564. The KIA was a female with a rucksack (sandbag type) personnel items, documents and 2 hand frag and the WIA was a male, 30, with a rucksack, pistol belt, 2 hand frag (1 Chi Com and 1 US) and documents. The WIA stated that 4 VC were in the party and 2 evaded, during the Combat Assault there was 10 VC with M-16 and evaded to the east. At 2230hrs Charlie Company the 54 element questioned some civilians in the Ville and one VC with M-16 went west through the Ville about 1830hrs this afternoon. One woman said her husband went up north about 2 days ago to Chieu Hoi.
Delta Company

At 0802hrs Delta Company all elements closed on their Command Post. At 0902hrs S-4 our 01 is inbound to the Delta Company element. At 0920hrs Delta Company our pick up is completed and we are in bound to Dragon and closed at 1000hrs. Delta Company conducts a Combat Assault 1st PZ at 1305 from BS724537 to BS750548, BS755548 and last LZ BS755555 completed at 1340hrs. At 1505hrs Delta Company the 74 element found a 155 round, dud 100 meters west of their LZ and blew it in place. At 1520hrs the 94 found 3 mackerel cans stuffed with Petna and grass and will blow them in place at grid BS753548. At 1545hrs Delta Company the 54 is at BS751549 and had one Vietnamese female evaded and dropped a bag. There were 3 men’s shirts with blood and 2 changes of clothes, gauze, comb, tooth brushes, shaving kit and 3 AAA bras, 3 books one with names, accounts and looks like an accounting book. At 1815hrs Delta Company as an element walked into a Ville at BS770558 we picked up one military age male with no ID. He was in a hootch and the Kit Carson Scout thinks he is a VC. In the same Ville a Vietnamese female led us to a male who was hiding in a hole with no ID and we had to use force to get him to come out. They turned them in to Military Intelligence. At 2045hrs Delta Company reports that all their elements are in their snake location.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0615hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fires Mission 0 for last night. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0638hrs Recon Platoon we are moving to LZ Liz and at 0700hrs we are on the red ball with an ETA at Liz in 45 minutes. At 0740hrs Recon Platoon we are closing on LZ Liz. At 0845hrs Recon Platoon during their movement to LZ Liz 1 man stepped on a soft place in the ground at BS780470. He backed off it and threw a rock at it and it exploded. It was estimated there was a 10 to 15 pound of powder charge with a pressure device on a trial in a swampy area, with no casualties and no shrapnel. Recon Platoon take over their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
