Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1125hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer mine sweep south was returning from completed mine sweep to LZ Thunder when 5 ton dump truck and ¾ ton received 200 to 300 rounds of automatic weapon fire and 10 M-79 rounds from both sides of road at 0957hrs at BS915248 result 1 KHA and 2 WHA. At 1205hrs 1-20 Infantry at LZ Liz requested Dust Off requested by Doctor and completed at 1215hrs. At 2345hrs Alpha Company Engineer at BS753480, with 8 man ambush spotted 2 VC engaged with small arms fire with negative assessment, results 1 US (M) also sighted an undetermined number of people in area.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon. At 0804hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon conducted a Combat Assault 1st PZ at 0803hrs into LZ 0810hrs at BS712583 LZ cold and at 0820hrs Alpha Company at BS712588 engaged 4 VC evading, and results, 4 VC KIA. At 0935hrs at BS712583 detained 26 VCS for questioning turned over to MACV Mo Duc. At 1200hrs Alpha put their SRRP in position at BS705506. Then at 1635hrs Alpha Company at BS761532 engaged 1 VC evading and result was 1 VC KIA. SGT GENE LEROY SCHUKAR LISTED AS KHA OED. Died of wounds (SEE 12/19/68 DATA NEEDED).
Bravo Company
January 19, 1969
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0830hrs Bravo Company at BS756426 found 2 dud 105 rounds and 4 dud 82mm rounds and will destroy in place. At 0820hrs Bravo Company is pick up at LZ Liz and LZ BS722431 and complete at 0836hrs. At 1205hrs Doctor requested a Dust Off at Liz and completed at 1215hrs. At 1355hrs Bravo Company 23 is PZ from LZ Liz and LZ at 1407 at BS734413. At 1510hrs Bravo Company at BS762401 detained 3 VC suspects evading and at 1512hrs at BS761232 engaged 1 VC evading and results was 1 VC KIA.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1015hrs Charlie Company 41 element is located at BS884310.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown at 0846hrs Delta 41 is at BS908238 and 22 at Bridge 94.
Echo Company
January 19, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission on LZ Liz. At 0827hrs Recon is pick up at and LIZ and at 0834hrs is located at BS722471. At 1015hrs Report their location BS725474 and moving at 1130hrs Recon located at BS732457 spotted a wound kid at base of hill. Command and Control Helicopter picked up 1 VCS taking him to LZ Dragon. At 1851hrs Recon reports they have two positions one at BS724456 and other at BS724456. At 1945hrs Recon reports at BS744452 spotted 13 VC wearing uniforms with 2 walking point with weapons. The Recon element said they where marching west and then they went east, they where 1000 to 15000 meters away so they could not call in artillery. At 1905hrs Recon 1-20 found 1 VC KBA by Artillery. PFC Robert J. Johnson was evac to 312th Evac Hospital sick at 1400hrs (11B10).
