Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1535hrs Helix 32 FAC we were putting in an Air Strike but Artillery wouldn’t check fire and we where low on fuel. At 1700hrs Charlie Company reports we have damage (M Boat) afloat with a dossier to be return to Sa Huynh to be repaired, the Marines got aboard and left. They left a few odds and ends behind and we will send it in on back haul. At 1905hrs 1-20 Infantry to Charlie 72 change in your mission on 20 and 21 December 1969 you will Recon and Force along the blue to BS814485 then clear all people from, BS795470 to BS825435, by 1800hrs on the 21 December 1969 you will Recon in Force to BS762437.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company
December 19, 1969
Alpha Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0552hrs Alpha Company 15 element is at checkpoint 3. At 0615hrs Alpha Company 15 closed on LZ Liz and at 0932hrs the 75, 34, 35 snakes closed on LZ Liz. All Bunkers checked by Alpha Company at 1815hrs. Alpha Company had a Priority Dust Off was Requested for 1 Kit Carson Scout with severe Hernia was Dusted off at 1820hrs, At 1821hrs Alpha Company is moving to checkpoint 1 at BS762427. The 15 element is moving to BS777441, the 35 element is moving to BS784439 and the 24 element is moving to BS772452. At 1900hrs Alpha Company the 76 element is at checkpoint 1 at BS762427 with negative finding. At 1916hrs Alpha Company the 76 SRRP is at checkpoint 3 at BS762410. The 15 element is at BS777441, the 35 element at BS768439 and the 54 element is at BS772440.
Bravo Company

At 0720hrs Bravo Company all my snakes have closed. The 75 element has closed on BS787424, the 35 element has closed on BS776446 and the Gorilla has closed on BS783433. At 0817hrs Bravo Company AJAX for Stand down is 20. At 0817hrs Bravo Company Urgent Dust OFF request: one Vietnamese male civilian who was shot last night in Mo Duc and frag wounds to the chest it was not known if the wounds were enemy or friendly. A Lambretta brought the man to BS783433, completed at 0920hrs. At 1140hrs Bravo Company the 34 element closed on BS771461. At 1700hrs Bravo Company the change in our plans has the 16 element going to BS789445. At 1850hrs the 33 element is in location at BS775452. At 1925hrs Bravo Company at 2200hrs, tonight the Gorilla element will move out with 10 US and 9 RF to grid BS789445. Upon reaching this location half the element will go to BS791444 and the other half of the elements will start sweeping toward each other. At 0800hrs they will be together at BS791446, at this point the will need a helicopter to take them to BS794445. Where they will search out the area completely and then they will Combat Assault to BS792446. If they can’t be Combat Assault they will cross the blue to above grid (BS792446). The Intelligence reported that VC at this location. At 2210hrs Bravo Company the Gorilla element is moving to BS789445.
Charlie Company

At 0845hrs 1st PZ for Combat Assault by Charlie Company 72 element from LZ Bronco to grid BS833437 and last LZ at 0921hrs. At 1230hrs Charlie Company 72 have a snake at BS821430, and Charlie Company present location is at BS780382. Charlie Company at 1400hrs we found a tunnel complex at grid BS777399. The entrance is deep 15 to 20’ and looks like people have been crawling in and out. We will blow the tunnel with what we have to destroy it. Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0620hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Missions 14, Observed Missions 2 with total expend 47 HE and 5 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0725hrs Recon Platoon the Little John snake has closed on BS833437. At 0921hrs Recon Platoon and Charlie Company 72 element switch places, Charlie 72 taking over security for the M Boats and Marines with Recon Platoon to LZ Bronco.
