Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0945hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Command and Control helicopter evac 1 WHA from Alpha Company to Chu Lai Fair Condition completed at 1115hrs. At 1020hrs 1-20 Infantry Command and Control Helicopter at BS753592 and BS736571 detained 3 VCS evac to LZ Bronco. At 1225hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC requests 24 55 gal drum fougas for Fire Support Base Liz and request 1 bulldozer for 2 days. At 1533hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Command and Control Helicopter at BS685583 received heavy ground fire, from BS685586, called in artillery, Choppers will make assault, Command and Control took 1 hit and is grounded at 174 Aviation. At 1835hrs 1-20 Infantry Command and Control helicopter engaged 2 VC hiding under a tree at BS742558, results 1 VC KIA and 1 VC evaded.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0815hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer received 5 rounds of sniper fire with negative casualties, returned fire and continued their Mine Sweep. At 0900hrs 19 Engineer at BS922214 picked up 1 VCS for questioning and evac to LZ Bronco had negative weapon or ID. At 0950hrs E Troop 1 Cav at BS917239, 1 Chieu Hoi turned himself in and was taken to LZ Thunder.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon. At 0940hrs Alpha Company is at BS760525 has 1 US WHA hit by Booby Trap mine and is evac to Chu Lai, he was in fair condition by Command and Control Helicopter. Also found 1 105mm Artillery and 81mm Mortar round Booby Trap and they where blown in place. At 1250hrs Alpha Company at BS768535 engaged 1 VC evading north and results is 1 VC KIA. At 1345hrs Alpha Company at BS786535, 1 VC CIA tried to escape and we now have 1 VC KIA. At 1405hrs Alpha Company at BS786535 detained 80 VCS walking to Mo Duc MACV. At 2100hrs Alpha Company located at LZ Dragon with 91 at BS705222 and BS713555. William F McDermott was awarded the Purple Heart? SP4 Gene L. Schukar was attached to the 312th Evac Hospital (SP4 GENE L. SCHUKAR SEE JANUARY 19, 1969).
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1420hrs Bravo Company at BS808457 detained 2 VCS evading invalid ID cards will evac to LZ Bronco and at 1425hrs detained 2 more VCS no ID evac to LZ Bronco with the other 2.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Search and Clear their Area of Operation. At 1240hrs Charlie Company report locations at BS747585 with 91 at BS747582. At 1610hrs Charlie Company at BS745546 CIA 2 VCS, no ID caught in area where troops received fire. At 1835hrs Charlie Company at BS747585 received automatic weapons fire from his southeast believed to be 2 or 3 dinks with AK 47, called in Artillery with negative assessment. Charlie Company and Recon conducted a Combat Assault from LZ Dragon to cold LZ at BS763578 completed at 1637hrs. At 2100hrs Charlie Company is at BS747585 with Recon in the same location.
Delta Company

Delta Company is located at LZ Bronco and will continue their Stand Down.
Echo Company
December 19, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Liz where Battalions Headquarters Forward is located and coordinates the Battalion Rear elements and Base Defense element on LZ Liz. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Liz where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 1240hrs Recon Platoon reports Recon Command Post at BS755596, 91 at BS759591 and 61 at BS759598. At 1450hrs Recon Platoon at BS758598 reports 3 VCS CIA negative ID and Evac to LZ Bronco. At 2100hrs Recon reports their Night Defense Position at BS747585.
