Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0001hrs the new SOI is in effect. At 0803hrs TMF spotted 2 Vietnamese females and 1 Vietnamese male carrying 3 to 4 bags of rice. Recon was in the area and caught the women but the man escaped. They were heading toward the west and the Kit Carson Scout says that they may be VC bringing rice to the VC. Both have ID and names are Pham Thi Meo and Nguyen Thi Mai and aged 45 and 16 respectively and wearing black pajamas. At 1330hrs 11 Brigade Air Calvary Boxes in the Date/Time/Grid From 191330hrs to 191900hrs August1970 in the area 1 kilometer around the following grids: BS696475, BS750450 and BS757492 were approved by SFC Mason. At 1650hrs 1-20 Infantry S-5 reports No leaflets were dropped or broadcasts made due to the weather. Med Cap was cancelled due to the lack of transportation. VIP Program was conducted with 1 81mm round, 1 60mm round, 1 40mm round and 2 fuses (1 4.2 and 1 105). Also 1 105 Artillery round, 1 M-72 LAW dud with the round still in it and 1 M-26 frag with no primer. At 1755hrs Primo 3 we picked up 1 male detainee, Ngyuen Xinh, 48 years old and does has an ID. He was evading when picked up and was released.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
August 19, 1970
At 0623hrs Alpha Company the element 91 is conducting sweeping to BS697563 and then to BS701574. At 1430hrs all Day Ambush have on BS715551. Alpha Company we requests an Urgent Dust Off for one PF of the (148 PF) Platoon who was working with the 91 element from grid BS709567. He has multiple frag wounds to the face and chest and left hand partially blown off when he dropped his rucksack which exploded (believe to be a hand frag which went off), ETA 10-15 minutes and completed at 1514hrs. At 1820hrs the point element spotted five VC carrying weapons in the hills. They were approximately 1000 meters to their southwest at BS710520 and could not bring them under fire. Primo 3 and 5 checked the area with negative finding and Artillery was fired with negative finding. Alpha Company 41 is at BS706500, Command Post, 51, 32 and 01 at Night Defense Position at BS704565.
Bravo Company

At 1825hrs Bravo Company we request one US be Urgently Dust Off with a dislocated shoulder he was injured playing volleyball at grid BS747667, line #71 completed at 1830hrs.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road.
Delta Company

Delta Company is at LZ Bronco for their retraining or their Stand Down at LZ Bronco.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0415hrs 4.2 Mortar Platoon reports Fire Mission 1 for a total expended HE 10 rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense.
