Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0355hrs Bravo Company Bunker line reports 10 incoming mortar rounds all landing in the trash dump, fired from an unknown location with negative casualties. At 0553hrs on LZ Liz Charlie Company reports all batteries dead, no replacements and Delta Company will wait until reach Day Logger so radios will dry out after rain last night. At 0559hrs Command message given to the Companies "Have back haul ready for Utility) At 1345hrs Pysops Alpha Company At grid BS732604 there is 1 VC tunnel. At grid BS728607 to BS732600 there is a network of canals and tunnels. At grid BS732603 there is a district party chief at Mo Duc. At grid BS634597 a company of VC name C-35 equipment 2 60mm mortars, 1 30caliber machinegun, and 1 60 caliber machinegun. 1 rifle platoon has M-16, they wear 2nd ARVN Division and the alternate uniform is black PJ.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0820hrs Charlie Company 19 Engineer at BS900267 paving team was ambushed by unknown size enemy fore and are in contact now. At 0835hrs Charlie Company 19 Engineer reports 1 US KIA, 2 US WIA (E). At 0845 Dust Off completed Gun ships on station. At 0850hrs contact is broken, damage report 3 X 10 ton Low Boys damage, 1 5 ton dump truck damage and 1 X 20 Ton crane damage. All the vehicles have received RPG frag and small arms fire (Information only) Charlie Company reports SP5 ROSS EDWARD MANDEVILLE IS LISTED KIA. They were with 73 Engineers working with Charlie Company 39 Engineer on paving highway 1.
Alpha Company

At 0621hrs Alpha Company all elements closed on Night Defense Position and continued to carry out their mission in the Area of Operation and working with Vietnamese intelligence to objectives and locations also sweep the area of contact last night.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz along with Access Road.
Charlie Company
August 19, 1969
At 0553 Charlie Company reports batteries dead have no replacements, At 0645hrs 90, 21, and 15element will be moving out on the Recon in Force shortly. Our Day logger Location is the same as last Night Defense Position BS829416. At 0803hrs Charlie Company found sign that said "Kill all GI’s" at grid BS818427 stopping here for a short time and will clover leafing around the area. Have a total of 5 females VCS ages 18-20, negative ID. The interpreter says that their husbands where VC Cadre. At 1115hrs Charlie Company 90, 51, 21 at grid BS831436 will be here 60 minutes sending out patrols clover leaf the area. At 1545hrs Charlie Company is moving out to new Night Defense Position at BS818427 with the 21 snake at BS821429. At 1930hrs Charlie Company reports that 500 meters north of our Day logger received sniper fire, returned fire with negative results.
Delta Company
August 19, 1969
Delta Company plans for the day move out in morning at 0650hrs, after all snakes closed. Moved to Day Logger and used elements to patrol in their Area of Operations. Will send in Dennis M. Chew has swelling of hands and lower arms. At 1940hrs Delta Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS786456 with 22 and 23 elements snakes are moving to their position now the 52 snake is already in position.
Echo Company
August 19, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0645hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Defense Targets 1, Observe Missions 4 with total expend 32 HE, 1 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0910hrs Recon starting to move out from LZ Liz and by 1020hrs have reach checkpoint 2 will be bringing in a base plate from a 82mm mortar. At 1100hrs Recon Platoon is now at checkpoint 3. At 1178hrs the Recon Platoon reports they are moving toward LZ Liz at this time and have 2 males VCS age 46, name Huynh Liu, claims he works on LZ Liz at the mess hall and bunker line.
