Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0730hrs 17 September 1969 2045hrs to 2115hrs, an unknown size force of VC entered a Ville location northeast of Minh Long at BS847527. Entered at 2045hrs and departed at 2115hrs amount of damage is unknown at this time a further investigation will be conducted. At 0730hrs reports Attack on Ville consisted of mortar, small arms, and hand frag resulting in negative casualties or damage.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 1850hrs LZ Bronco received 9 rounds of 82mm mortar 4 on the southeast pad, 4 on the side of engineer hill, and 1 in the wire at south end of the Fire Base. All rounds were reported to have delay fuses, results 4 US WIA (M). (3 from 3-1 Infantry and 1 from E troop 1-1 Calvary) and 1 Kit Carson Scout WIA working for the 3-1 Infantry. Duc Pho also took 3 rounds of 82mm mortar resulting in 3 civilians WIA, enemy grid were BS801361, BS803333 and BS789345. At 2000hrs Target Detection at 1855hrs vicinity BS79213188 picked up an unknown amount of personnel and engaged with 4 rounds of 155 HE Artillery. At 1905hrs at BS80053318 picked up 10-12 persons moving north to south and engaged with 6 rounds of 105 HE Artillery.
Alpha Company

At 0955hrs Alpha Company is at BS687535, At 1400hrs at BS687435 found 7 fresh NVA graves uncovered 2 one was a male was wrapped in a NVA flag, the other a female wrapped in a poncho the male 30 and about 3 days old and the female about one month. At 1800hrs Alpha Company at BS687435 which they used as a Night Defense Position at 2040hrs at BS687435 received 2 hand frag grenades at their Night Defense Position also small arms fire with negative casualties or damage, Artillery called and fire Defense targets.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1625hrs Bravo Company we are reporting one man AWOL, last name Jones. At 1740hrs Bravo Company located at BS775445 and by 2000hrs Bravo has moved into their Night Defense Position at BS773455. At 1932hrs Bravo Company the 47 element is moving out on night patrol with 25 and 74 snakes are in position. At 2250hrs Bravo Company 47 element is on the Southern Bridge site at this time.
Charlie Company

At 0715hrs Charlie Company we are moving out, will close on LZ Liz sometime this morning also the LRRP Tea Kettle will close with Charlie Company. At 0810hrs Charlie Company location is at BS687435. At 1145hrs Charlie Company our present location is BS693433. At 1515hrs Charlie Company has crossed the 515 in route to LZ Liz should be their in approximately 1 hour. At 1600hrs Charlie Company at BS727431 and by 1800hrs have finished closing on LZ Liz and taken over the Security Mission of LZ Liz, 25 at North OP and 77 at the South OP.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Snoopy.
Echo Company
September 18, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0505hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Mission 1 and Unobserved Mission 1 for a total expended 32 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0620hrs we have moved back in from our snake location. At 0635hrs Recon reports they have moved back in from our snake location and have closed on LZ Liz at 0840hrs. Recon Platoon reports their location at BS774454. At 1420hrs Recon reports that they have closed on LZ Liz.
