Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0723hrs Charlie Company conducts a Combat Assault to BS742522 1st LZ 0712hrs and last LZ 0723. At 0800hrs Artillery Bunker inspection: The mess bunker fell last night. At 0930hrs 11 Brigade Aero Scouts at BS630425 found 1 body of US Personnel. Body was identified as US and taken to grave registration at LZ Bronco. At 1115hrs Helix 33 FAC request clearance on grid BS709410, grid cleared nearest friendly is Delta Company at BS728396 and Brigade LRRP at BS702437. At 1130hrs Brigade LRRP, no change in location, negative situation report. Brigade extraction planned at 1730hrs Accomplish mission before then, that is, take a prisoner (at least one), not a farmer to be extracted. Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for the Gaza Strip Operations.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. LZ Bronco 1-20 Infantry Conditions of Echo Sector 43-torn down/building a new one, 44-ser/need fill, 45-ser/good bunker, 47 ser/needs cement floor, 48-unser/needs bracing, 49-ser/needs fill, 50-unser/torn down and building new one. Also Day guard bunker ser, HHC personnel bunker ser, Battalion Motor Pool bunker both ser, C Co bunker ser, D co bunker and E Co Bunker unser/needs bracing, S-4 bunker ser and Medic bunker ser, the Commo Bunker unser/needs bracing.
Alpha Company

At 0825hrs Alpha Company our 73 and 13 elements are at grid BS799514. Alpha Company equipment we got this morning consists of and turned in their daily status Report. At 1142hrs Alpha Company at BS785535 the last of the equipment landed on the beach was a AMCO Rome plow. At 1700hrs all elements closed on my Location.
Bravo Company

At 0254hrs Bravo Company at grid BS783433 the Vietnamese with 3 Company main elements fired on 2 or 3 VC moving west of the Night Defense Position. The Vietnamese and an element of Bravo Company are going to check it out. The moved across the Red Ball and questioned a small boy. The boy said that 8 VC with weapons had been in the area and moved west. At 0317hrs grid BS785437 the 98 element sprung an ambush. We spotted movement and fired on it and we are now checking out the area with negative results will check again in the morning. At 0355hrs Bravo Company at BS783433 we just received 2 incoming mortar rounds. They came from the east of our Night Defense Position site, and we are putting in Artillery on the suspected area, they were 60mm mortar. Bravo Company Urgent Dust Off request one US (Nicely) with facial wounds. We received these injuries from incoming mortars (60mm). Initially 2 rounds, by the time of the Dust Off a total of 7 incoming were received pick-up site was BS783433 completed at 0437hrs. Bravo Company with Vietnamese elements will be conducting multiple sweep and clear operations in their Area of Operation. At 0732hrs Bravo Company from the PF 172 at BS783455 north of Bridge 402 U, who engaged in contact earlier have 5 VC CIA, 3 VC KIA, 1 AK-47 and 1 carbine, also the RF had 2 PF KIA are starting to beat them up, MACV and Duc Pho has been informed. At 1735hrs Bravo Company are in location at this time the 77 element and the 2nd ARVN Company are at BS777446, Vietnamese locations BS775445 and BS779447. At 1912hrs Bravo Company the questioning of the 5 VC revealed plan to hit friendly forces all along the Red Ball. The Northern Bridge seems to be the main target. Locations of VC are at BS777453, BS778452, and BS785452. At 2316hrs Bravo Company at BS783433 observed 4-6 (VC/NVA) 200 meters west of location and engaged with 81mm Mortar with the (VC/NVA) evading to the West.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0715hrs 1st PZ and Last LZ at 0723hrs At 0738hrs the tracker dog and team been inserted at this time. Charlie Company at grid BS787410 the tracker team, found 1 female KIA age 25 to 30 who was a nurse had medical supplies, result of the ambush sprung by 93 element at about 2232hrs Charlie Company at grid BS755413 we need a Urgent Dust Off wound in the head, Name Mike Adkins completed at 2245hrs.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued working their Area of Operations using Patrolling by the elements. Delta Company Night Defense Position is BS728394 the 73 snake location is BS730400.
Echo Company
October 18, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon is in Chu Lai for their Stand Down.
