Headquarters and Headquarter Company
March 18, 1971

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1345hrs Minuteman 126 S-4 Minuteman 126 is on station for re supply and breaking station at 1428hrs. At 2125hrs MACV MO Duc, PF 146 at vicinity 709627 ambushed an unknown size VC element, with results 1 PF KIA and 2 VC KIA, 1 M-16 is CIA, 2 home made grenades CIA was not US confirmed. Legend: 1st Platoon 33, 2nd Platoon 46, 3rd Platoon 22, 4th Platoon 09, CO-42.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

 

Alpha Company
March 18, 1971

Alpha Company set up their Patrol Bases and continued to patrolling their Area of Operation and using some Day Ambushes. At 0955hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon patrol is now in Patrol Base vicinity BS639565. At 1037hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon in their Patrol Base at BS635553. At 1207hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon patrol at checkpoint 3 vicinity BS648530, 3rd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS630550 and 2nd Platoon Day Ambush is moving out for BS633567 and closed on location at 1220hrs. At 1430hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS645573. At 1446hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 3 vicinity BS640572 and 3rd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 at BS641550. At 1502hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon patrol closed on BS639565. At 1536hrs Alpha Company Platoon Day Ambush closed on BS639565, 3rd Platoon patrol closed in BS641550. At 1937hrs Alpha Company all elements are in pre planned position Command Post, 1st and 4th Platoon at vicinity BS643539, 2nd Platoon at BS639565, with 2nd Platoon ambush at BS634566, 3rd Platoon is at BS634554 and ambush at BS631553.

 

Bravo Company
March 18, 1971

At 0939hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon patrol is moving to BS668493. At 1040hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS678500. At 1100hrs Bravo Company at vicinity BS698490 requests priority Dust Off for 1 US with heart disorder line #B6156 Bird 88 complete at 1120hrs. At 1456hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon patrol closed on BS669486 and 2nd Platoon patrol closed on BS673496. At 0804hrs Bravo Company Command Post, 1st and 4th Platoon are now in Night Defense Position vicinity BS693479, 3rd Platoon moving to BS672493 and at 1931hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon in Night Defense Position at BS675498.

 

Charlie Company
March 18, 1971

Charlie Company continued to have the Security Mission for LZ Liz along with road security.

 

Delta Company
March 18, 1971

Delta Company continued to using Patrol Base for platoon to patrolling their Area of Operation. At 0855hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1vicinity BS649497. At 1217hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon is moving out for their pre planned location vicinity BS636489. At 1314hrs Delta Company Command Post and 1st Platoon is moving out for their pre panned location vicinity BS646476. At 1453hrs Delta Company 3rd platoon found vicinity BS640491 found 60mm mortar round, with trip wire across trial and the blown it in place. At 1812hrs Delta Company all patrols have closed at this time. At 1915hrs 4th and 2nd platoon moving to Night Defense Position BS650491, Command Post and 1st platoon at BS646498, and 3rd Platoon at BS639489. At 1935hrs Delta Company reports Command Post and 1st Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS646479.

 

Echo Company
March 18, 1971

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0701hrs Recon is moving to checkpoint 1 at vicinity BS753409 and at 0848hrs has reach checkpoint 2 vicinity BS835414. At 1200hrs Recon is now in their pre planned Day Ambush vicinity BS711435. At 1423hrs Recon is moving out for LZ Liz. At 1650hrs Recon closed on LZ Liz.
