Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0110hrs Bravo Company LZ Liz Bunkers 5, 6, 7 and 8 were inspected and all was satisfactory. At 0255hrs Saber Black going into Nighthawk Box 60 at 0330hrs out of box with negative findings. At 0408hrs LZ Liz Bunkers 1, 2, 3 and 4 were inspected by LT Studdard, all were satisfactory. At 1420hrs LATE SPOT RF 190 on 171630hrs June vicinity BS926135,RF trip a booby trap approximately size 105mm rounds, results were 1 RF KIA and 2 RF WIA. At 0420hrs LATE SPOT RF 190 on 171620hrs June vicinity BS926140, RF element made contact with unknown size force VC element, Results 3 VC CIA, 1 VC KIA was carrying attack plan for Sa Huynh in Tam Quan District. At 0420hrs LATE SPOT RF 417 on 181100hrs June, 1 day operation involving RF 417, PRU and PSDF at Upper Left BS8924 Lower Right Bs9420, to be Combat Assaulted at 1100hrs sharp. Intelligence in this area is 60 VC with automatic weapons, 2 60mm mortars, and 1 50 caliber machine gun in this area, Operation Maybe. At 0755hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 17 is on station at this time. At 0845hrs 75th Rangers are inserted at 0727hrs vicinity BS634513. At 1145hrs MACV Mo Duc vicinity BS742584 request priority Dust Off for RF with self-inflicted wound by M-26 hand frag (3 toes blown away), US on ground completed at 1230hrs. At 1410hrs LZ Liz, Bunker 8 in the wire was found a helmet and canteen that was booby trap. Trip wire was hooked to a blue smoke grenade. Looks old, canteen rusted and helmet partly buried believed to be set by a GI. At 1552hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 31 is on station to work for Charlie Company and broke station at 1620hrs. At 1630hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord 3 is going to APD Box 269 and at 1650hrs now going to Box 270. At 1848hrs LZ Liz Access Road bought 6 CS rounds from Vietnamese children and paid 1 C Ration meal. At 1906hrs MACV Mo Duc reports E Troop and RF 172 vicinity BS738604 found booby trap in old APC tracks a 105mm rounds and a 155mm round with pressure device and battery blew in place with firing device being held by US, time 1745hrs. At 2002hrs MACV Mo Duc reports E Troop and RF 172 at 1930hrs vicinity BS756586 spotted 5 VC with black on black, 1 weapon, 1 pack, out of range for M-16, didn’t truck tanks, VC got away. At 2028hrs Hill 103 going on practice alert at 2031hrs had 100%, Alert was over at 2034hrs, LT Korona evaluation very good, bad points people not carrying gas masks, fired 50 caliber, Illumination on Defense Targets, and M-79 rounds. At 2105hrs Saber 45 is working box 60 and broke station at 2135hrs with negative findings. At 2122hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Charlie 4 and Recon 1 for a total of 5 out. Legend: 1st Platoon 17, 2nd Platoon 44, 3rd Platoon 56, 4th Platoon 23 and CO-64. At 0950hrs 11 Brigade Convoy 14 vehicles with Military Police escort, leaves LZ Bronco in route to LZ Dottie and Chu Lai with rear elements fro 6-11 Artillery, Headquarters 11 Brigade and 523 Signal.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company has a Security Mission for LZ Bronco and the 11 Brigade as the 11 Brigade is closing out of LZ Bronco and turning it over to the ARVN.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road Security. At 0408hrs Bravo Company Bunker line is inspection by LT Studdard all satisfactory. At 1410hrs LZ Liz, Bunker 8 in the wire was found a helmet and canteen that was booby trap. Trip wire was hooked to a blue smoke grenade and Looks old, canteen rusted and helmet partly buried believed to be set by a GI.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0713hrs Charlie Company Command Post and 3rd Platoon is moving to Patrol Base BS734413. At 0740hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon is moving to Patrol Base vicinity BS732430. At 0850hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon Patrol closed on BS734413. At 2038hrs Charlie Company all elements in their Night Defense Position Command Post and 3rd Platoon at BS732413, 2nd Platoon at BS720436 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco and 11 Brigade as the 11 Brigade is closing out of LZ Bronco and turning it over to the ARVN.
Echo Company
June 18, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0605hrs Recon is moving out to LZ Liz at this time. At 0605hrs Recon has closed on the Access Road. At 1905hrs Recon is moving off LZ Liz to vicinity BS749423. At 2020hrs Recon reports that they have closed on their Night Defense Position at BS749423.
