Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. Charlie 39th Engineer, at BD717594 will sweep south received several sniper rounds, returned fire and continued sweep. At BS717594 the Mine sweep south found one 60mm mortar round booby trap on road covered with leaves. Blew in place and continued sweep of Highway 1.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
January 18, 1969
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon. At 0950hrs Alpha Company at BS772516 received sniper fire from about 5 different positions, negative casualties, and returned fire with the results of 1 VC KIA. At 1110hrs Alpha at BS692510 found area surrounded by barbed wire and Punji stakes, contained 6 huts, have destroyed them. At 1130hrs at BS695554 hit bounding Betty mine results with 3 US WHA (m) At 1230hrs Alpha Company vicinity BS699564 received sniper fire, results in 1 US KHA, returned fire, with negative results. At 1245hrs Alpha Company at BS695554 engaged 2 VC evading results with 1 VC KIA. At 1730hrs Alpha Company at BS695554 hit a Bouncing Betty mine following personnel WHA. Henry Godez E-3 frag wounds of lower left knee, Jamie Damron E-3 frag wounds in left arm, and Kenneth, Kruse H. E-6 frag wounds in left arm minor wounds treated in field. Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1140hrs Bravo Company 60 is located at BS720450. At 1645hrs Bravo Company at BS750450 detained 2 VC suspects for questioning, and at 1735hrs Bravo Company at BS797432 detained 1 VC suspect.

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1125hrs Charlie Company 50 is located at BS881303. At 1805hrs Charlie Company at BS791382 detained 1 VC suspect for questioning. At 2010hrs Charlie Company reports their locations 54 at BS834380, 32 at BS865385, and 62 at BS877304.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 2010hrs Delta Company reports their locations 62 at Bridge 94, 31 at BS905235 and 32 at BS905229, and 33 at BS910232.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission on LZ Liz and the 1-20 Infantry.
