Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0355hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Radar sighted 15-20 stationary personnel at grid BS736458 and at 1935hrs and the target was engaged with 32 HE VT of Artillery 155mm. At 2020hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS748468 with negative clearance and LZ Max was informed and at 2250hrs read sighted 5 to 6 stationary personnel at grid BS779499 and the target was engaged with 16 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 0828hrs Battalion Commanding Officer left LZ Liz on a Visual Recon and returned at 0930hrs He left again at 0937hrs and returned at 1025hrs. At 0900hrs Brigade Informed 1-20 Infantry that 4-21 Infantry Recon element will be checking out an intelligence reports at grid BS809340 on the 1-20 Infantry Area of Operations boundary. At 0915hrs Brigade Commanding Office has arrived at LZ Liz and left at 0930hrs. At 1315hrs 1-20 Infantry all bunkers are in satisfactory condition and all have plumb bobs. At 1920hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC we request flare ships for Bravo Company operation for the period of DATE/TIME 200130 to 200230hrs February 1970, the contact will be 32 on 41.45 radio frequencies.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to have their Security Mission for LZ Liz with road security and all snakes are in location at 2015hrs.
Bravo Company
February 18, 1970
Bravo Company continued their work with the PF and Pacification Program conducting multiple patrolling, day ambushes and a Day OP position in their Area of Operation today.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is at Chu Lai on Stand Down. SP-4 Felix A. Hammock at 2230hrs 91st Evac Hospital with misc. SP4 David J. ? was attached to 91st Evac Hospital.
Delta Company
February 18, 1970
At 0828hrs Delta Company all elements are starting their sweep and at 1055hrs Delta Company reports additional sweeping elements are 32 and 72. At 1055hrs Delta Company 42 found one 250pound bomb at grid BS756403, it was blown in place. At 1210hrs Delta Company the 42 element will sweep in grids BS7539 and BS7638. The present location of the 42 element is BS756391 with the 12, 28, and 72 element present location is at BS750396 and the 32 element present is located at BS737396. At 1415hrs the Delta Company CO, (CPT Whitaker) was extracted by Dolphin 17 to Bud Pad due to a severely sprained ankle. He later evacuated to Chu Lai for X-Rays, grid of extraction was BS750389. At 1741hrs Delta Company we are moving to our Night Defense Position at BS769371 and report closed on location at 1905hrs. At 2030hrs Delta Company reports all snakes are in location, the 34 at BS753366, the 74 at BS771359 and the 44 at BS779355.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion at 0756hrs 4.2 Mortar Platoon reports Supporting fires 10, Observed Mission for a total expended 20 HE and 9 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1505hrs Recon Platoon conducts a Combat Assault of troops to grid BS816457 from LZ Liz, 1st PZ at 1507hrs and last 3rd LZ at 1535hrs. At 1530hrs Recon Platoon reports we found 6 fresh graves at grid BS829424. At 1645hrs Recon Platoon all elements are moving out to their snake locations, our present location is at BS808474 with Robin Hood at BS795458, Will Scarlet at BS790473 and Little Al to BS804449. At 1740hrs Recon the 42 element found 2 GI steel pots and 2 NVA uniforms and 2 sleeping positions at grid BS801461 and the 42 elements snake location is at BS801460. At 1845hrs Recon the 42 element spotted 1 VC at grid BS794464 was wearing black pajamas and carrying a weapon. We are calling artillery and are going to check out the area. At 1850hrs Recon the 28 element spotted and engaged 3 VC wearing dark blue uniforms, 1 VC was WIA and the 2 others carried the WIA off and evaded, results we have 1 VC uniform and other clothing WIA along with ammo box CIA. At 1940hrs Recon reports the 28 element is at BS795458 and 44 elements is at BS790473. At 1953hrs the 28 element is at BS796449 and at 2010hrs the 42 element is at BS801461. At 2035hrs Recon reports we called in a fire mission on a ridgeline where we spotted 3 personnel earlier today, we will check the location at first light at grid BS802453.
