Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. Command message given to Companies "Take you big pill today." At 0950hrs FAC 34 request clearance for Air Strike at BS695477, grid is clear. At 1800hrs AJAXES: Alpha Company 111, Bravo Company 96, Charlie Company 114, Delta Company 103, Recon Platoon 27, and 4.2 Platoon 30. At 2145hrs LZ Liz, Bravo Company they have commo with all bunkers except 10 and 12.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company
August 18, 1969
At 0614hrs Alpha Company my snake has closed on the Night Defense Position. At 1600hrs we are now in our Night Defense Position at this time vicinity of BS713602. At 1730hrs while moving to new Night Defense Position site, we received small arms fire and M-79 fire 5 US wounded minor frag wounds. 1 US pack Thornton, James will be coming in for frag wounds left arm, left shoulder and side. Name of personnel wounded M-79 Sp4 Thompson, George- Hoffman, Kert- Bryant and John- Lenihann. Alpha Company reports a Summary of ambush at BS712611, at 1715hrs 1 KIA identified by PF as a VC, 3 male WIA CIA being treated and questioned at Snoopy. The ages 30-35 years, two dressed in Back PJ, 1 female wounded in head by exchange of fire. Males are friendly and PF claim the VCS were wounded by VC. US say it was M-16 firing and PF AK-47, US did find one recently fired a LAW. At 2025hrs Alpha Company snake location 91 at BS717604 and the 51 element at BS711605.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz along with Access Road.
Charlie Company
August 18, 1969
At 0900hrs Charlie Company reports they have moved into their Day Logger at BS834408 and used of Recon in Force operations in their Area of Operation. At 1955hrs Charlie Company we are moving into our Night Defense Position at BS831409 with 93 at BS828408, and 94 at BS834405.
Delta Company
August 18, 1969
At 0720hrs Delta Company Center of mass for company BS733448, the 51 element checking out location BS752456 continued their Search and Destroy operation. Delta Company moved to their Night Defense Position 51, 52, 92 will had snakes out tonight. Ronald W. Ireland was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company
August 18, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0625hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Defense Target 1, Observe Mission 1 with total expend 5 HE, 1 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0628hrs Recon is leaving the perimeter and reach checkpoint #1 at 0656hrs. At 0715hrs Recon reports have reached checkpoint #2 will break for chow for 30 minutes. At 0905hrs Recon Platoon reached checkpoint #5 at BS777427 will remain here for about 1 1/2 hours. At 1205hrs Recon have two NVA/VC KIA found in hollow tree engaged with small arms, in tree found documents, loud speaker, 3 chi com grenades Civilian and military clothing. Both dressed in black shorts and ages 19-23. Also found a pair of Chi Com 8X30 binoculars (Sn100339) and damaged transistor radio. At 1305hrs Recon Platoon closed on LZ Liz.
