Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0945hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports E Troop at BS917252, small truck hit a mine, number of persons killed is unknown, will give more details later. At 1015hrs E Troop reports was a Lambretta that hit a mine and 8 Vietnamese KIA and 1 Wounded and the mine was a 60 pounds bamboo, pressure detonated device leaving at hole 5’ wide and 3’ deep by 4’ long. At 1200hrs MACV request to have operation in vicinity BS885276, permission granted from 1-20 Infantry.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1330hrs 1-20 Infantry rear lighting hit fougas storage area detonating fougas in the 1-20 Infantry Rear area near Bunker #46, negative casualties and damage also negative.
Alpha Company
August 18, 1968
At 0831hrs Alpha Company is located at BS780360, and at 0901hrs at BS780360 found 3 VC propaganda leaflets where signed by (SVNLAE). At 1030hrs Alpha Company at BS779359 found a grave containing 2 ½ Vietnamese bodies, appeared to have been killed by artillery. Bodies were dressed in green, had no ID cards. Also found a pistol belt in same general area vicinity grave about 1 month old. At 1843hrs at BS775361 found some VC documents, 1 book of VC passes, blank and others look like VC orders and will evac to LZ Bronco. At 1900hrs Alpha is at their Night Defense Position at BS780360 with ambushes at BS774368, BS771359, BS783372, BS765364, BS780350 and BS790355.
Bravo Company
August 18, 1968
At 0825hrs Bravo Company location is at BS833311 and using saturation patrolling in their Area of Operations. At 1513hrs Bravo Company at BS850308 observed 1 Vietnamese girl evading was told to stop and did not stop, engaged with results 1 VCS WIA, CIA, wounded in leg, no ID, requested Dust Off completed at 1530hrs. At 1900hrs Bravo Company established their Night Defense Position at BS850274, BS830285, BS845297, BS854285 and BS860300. At 2021hrs Bravo Company changed their Night Defense Position is at BS945295.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1900hrs Charlie Company at LZ Thunder with ambushes at BS791341, BS846266 and the 31 element is on Bridge 111.
Delta Company
August 18, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 1900hrs Delta Company have a Listening Post at BS932221 and ambushes at BS930168, 35 at BS916168 and 21 on Bridge 94.
Echo Company
August 18, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 0845hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS443643. At 1015hrs Recon Platoon 1-20 Infantry at BS443643 found 1 Bar, 44 bar magazines, 6 boxes ammo, 130 rounds, 1 Chi Com grenade, 75’ commo wire, numerous entraining tools, shovels and crow bars. Also found chases for PRC 10, minus transistors. At 1455hrs Recon Platoon at BS428632 requested Dust Off for 1 man with heat exhaustion, Dust Off completed at 1520hrs. At 1820hrs Recon Platoon is location at BS416681.
