Headquarters and Headquarter Company
April 18, 1971

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1020hrs GAC (Helix 37) at BS624535 received unknown amount of unknown caliber fire from t camouflaged 51 caliber pits and some bunkers, destroyed 1 51 caliber pit, 4 bunkers and observed 1 secondary explosion. A diverted Vietnamese Air Force Air Strike at the same grid results in other .51 Caliber pit destroyed. At 1100hrs 1-20 Infantry reports RF 416 at BS735600 engaged a unknown size enemy force with results 2 VC KIA. At 1520hrs the Nation Police Field Force 160 at BS7425+3 engaged 4 VC with results 4 VC KIA. At 1906hrs 11 Brigade known 1-20 Infantry was approved for a mine dog for tomorrow morning at 0610hrs at Administration pad.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

 

Alpha Company
April 18, 1971

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.

 

Bravo Company
April 18, 1971

Bravo Company is at LZ Bronco for their Stand Down.

 

Charlie Company
April 18, 1971

At 0850hrs Charlie Company at BS709437 on patrol found 1 grave with 3 Vietnamese bodies approximately 4 week old, was unable to ID the sex or clause of death because the bodies were badly decomposed. At 1000hrsCharlie Company as they continued their Search and clear operations a BS727407 found 5 bunkers 21/2’ X 3 ½’ in a hedgerow numerous fighting position 4’ X 3’, 1 trail with signs of recent use, Bunkers and fighting position where all destroyed.

 

Delta Company
April 18, 1971

Delta Company continued to saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation with very light activities today.

 

Echo Company
April 18, 1971

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. AT 1020hrs Echo Company at BS677566 while firing on suspected enemy location observed 1 large secondary explosion will not sweep due to large number of booby traps in the area. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. Recon Platoon continued to remain on OP Wink to provide security for the TMF location.
