Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0805hrs Dallas SRRP has closed. At 0745hrs vicinity BS655385 LRRP Idaho requested extraction and completed at 0830hrs. At 1040hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports access road, 5 ton truck hit mine, press type 80-81 pounds TNT 4’ X 9’ X 4’, mine sweep just completed results 1 KIA 5 WIA Dust Off completed at 1045hrs Command and Control Helicopter pick up KIA. At 1810hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC in regard to 5 ton truck, Vehicle was hit and destroyed by a command detonated mine. At 1900hrs OP at BS726445 observed 6 VC/NVA with packs and weapons, moving east on 515, called artillery with unknown results.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0210hrs Base Defense at BS812375 Bunker 28 observed movement in front of bunker, called MACV, they said they had no ambushes in that vicinity, Base defense given permission to engaged. At 1930hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC OP on LZ Liz observed 4 dark figures in 515 Valley called artillery with unknown results. SP4 Larry D. Smith was evac to 312th Evac Hospital at 1130hrs with burns to upper body.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued the Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown with local ambushes today 1 Platoon conducts Recon in Force vicinity BS9125. At 1825hrs Alpha Company reports ambushes locations 37 at BS919217 and 87 at BS933228.
Bravo Company
March 17, 1969
Bravo Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz and today 1 Platoon conducts a Recon in Force to vicinity BS7742. At 0930hrs OP on LZ Liz observed 4 dark figures in 515 Valley, called Artillery with unknown results. At 1040hrs Bravo Company reports in vicinity BS782432 the access road a 5 ton truck hit mine, press type, 50-85 pounds TNT and some sniper fire. The 5 WHA where Dust Off and completed at 1045hrs. Bravo Company result one KIA and 4 WHA from Booby trap. The following personnel where hit by booby trap moving to LZ Liz LT Robert Baldwin (See March 18, 1968), SP4 Michael Gordon, SP4 Louis Gledzik, PFC Ecedro Gillead and SP4 Stephen Crexford. I also believe that SP Larry D. Smith probably Medic for Bravo Company (see Headquarters and Headquarter Company March 17, 1969), also 1 KIA from Delta Battery 1-82 Artillery PFC EDWARD L. CHAPPELL IS LISTED AS KIA. At 1645hrs Bravo Company 1-20 Infantry at BS770462 detained 2 males and evac to LZ Bronco.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Thunder with local ambushes and today 1 Platoon conducts a Recon in Force vicinity BS9734. At 1243hrs in the vicinity BS871343 Charlie Company detained 4 VCS CIA for questioning at LZ Thunder.
Delta Company
March 17, 1969
Delta Company will remained at LZ Bronco, today and conduct a Recon in Force to vicinity BS7638. At 1225hrs vicinity BS767387 Delta Company found 1 VC KBA from Air Strike. At 0801hrs Delta Company reports their location at LZ Bronco with 1 Platoon OPCON to 3-1 Infantry. At 1010hrs Delta Company 82 is at BS765434. At 1300hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Delta Company PZ at 1300hrs with LZ at 1310hrs vicinity BS763403. At 1414hrs Delta Company 82 is reported to be at BS763403. At 1825hrs Delta Company reports their Night Defense Position at BS764398.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Mortar Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 1130hrs Recon Platoon conducting a Security Sweep for LZ Liz vicinity BS749419 engaged 2 men, 1 female with no ID evac to LZ Liz. At 1415hrs Recon Platoon they have closed on LZ Liz.
