Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0920hrs Duc Pho Advisor the PF will have patrol out from 0900hrs to 1800hrs will be working between BS806350 and BS801347. At 1330hrs 1-20 Infantry 5-6 boats of bigger than usual size observed at BS910320, Swift boat will check it out and found to be fishing boats. At 1700hrs E Troop reported that at 1542hrs a Vietnamese female told element on Carentan Bridge that she had been shot by VC. At 1635hrs 3 Vietnamese children with frag wounds came to bridge at 1650hrs and then 3 injured PF came to bridge and reported many VC in the area. 1-20 Infantry Command and Control Helicopter is checking out the area now.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1858hrs E Troop 1 Cav at 1840hrs detained 2 VC suspects.
Alpha Company
March 17, 1968
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. Alpha Company at 1020hrs at BS864335 received sniper fire, 1 US WHA, wounded in ankle, Dust Off completed by Command and Control helicopter. At 1100hrs Alpha Company at BS868331, hit a booby trap, 3 US WHA 1 serious, Command and Control helicopter will make Dust Off. Alpha Company at 1355hrs established 2-Day Ambushes at BS816397 and BS834397 and at 1513hrs Alpha Company is located at BS867333. At 1915hrs Alpha Company is on LZ Thunder with the Security Mission and has two ambushes at BS931389 and BS837333. At 1915hrs Alpha Company is on LZ Thunder with ambushes at BS831389 and BS837378. PFC EDGAR DEWAYNE BELL LISTED AS KHA. SP4 Clarence Dust and SGT John E. Jackson were evac to the 67th Evac Hospital.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Recon in Force and Search and Destroy operations in their Area of Operation and at 0815hrs Bravo Company reports their position at BS802310. At 1415hrs Bravo Company at BS793476 as a result of Artillery yesterday found 1 VC KIA. At 1513hrs Bravo Company is located at BS790312. At 1915hrs Bravo Company is in their Night Defense Position at BS792312 with ambushes at BS794313 and BS795315.
Charlie Company

At 0930hrs Charlie Company at BS723783 hit a mine results is 1 US WHA, requested Dust Off. At 1120hrs, Charlie Company at BS725778, found 6 Chi Com hand grenades booby trap tied to trees, destroyed. At 1255hrs Charlie Company at BS731771, a Vietnamese man located 15 booby trap mines for Charlie Company and this makes a total of 21 found by same individual, all destroyed in place. At 1410hrs Charlie Company at BS735764 engage 2 VC evading results 2 VC KIA. At 1530hrs Charlie Company at BS735758, detained 2 VCS and 1 female, National Police said they where VC. At 1655hrs Charlie Company at BS735764 located tunnel with 4 M26 hand grenades, 2 pistol belts, 1 medical supply kit, sonic radio, 3 band short wave with loud speakers, fragrance not known, destroyed tunnel. At 1655hrs Charlie Company at BS734764, found 1 VC in tunnel, wouldn’t come out, threw in hand grenade results, 1 VC KIA. Charlie Company at 1905hrs is located at BS734775. PFC Paul D. Meadlo was evac to 2nd Surgical Hospital.
Delta Company

Delta Company will start preparing for their move north will use Recon in Force operations in their Area of Operations. At 0815hrs Delta Company is located at BS760350 and by 1513hrs Delta Company is located at BS769345. At 1915hrs Delta Company is located in their Night Defense Positions at BS765350 with ambushes at BS764350 and BS767355.
Echo Company
March 17, 1968
Echo Company and 4.2 platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. At 1513hrs Recon is still located at LZ Thunder. At 1915hrs Recon Platoon at BS895304 with ambushes at BS889304.
