Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0315hrs Saber 49 is on station for Nighthawk Box 60, informed friendly in box, fire for fire AMCAL rules of engagement, broke station at 0350hrs with negative findings. At 0350hrs Bravo Company LZ Liz Bunkers 1, 2, 3 and 4 were inspected by LT Studdard, results with everything satisfactory, good commo with all bunkers but bunkers 15 and 16. At 0405hrs Saber 49 going into Nighthawk Box 66, at 0440hrs out of box with negative findings. At 0715hrs 3-4 ARVN vicinity BS277423 requested Dust Off for 1 ARVN KIA and 3 ARVN VIA. Vietnamese Air Force refused through 2nd Division at Quang Ngai, Bird # 88 completed at 0755hrs. At 0747hrs LZ Liz Access Road is swept but was not pressure tested. At 0800hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 26 is on station tail # 122 for resupply. At 0830hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 3 is on station at this time. At 0900hrs Mo Duc, VC from unknown unit detonated a 105mm booby trap in a Ville, results were 1 VC KIA and 1 civilians WIA from Mo Duc by (EBG), vicinity BS765172, time of event 0130hrs. At 1015hrs MACV Mo Duc RF 172 found 1 booby trap in a hedgerow a can of Petna with pressure release, was blown in place in BS771619. At 1600hrs Charlie Company RF 172 vicinity BS755558 on day 171200hrs June found a booby trap 105 round with trip wire on trail, blew it in place, hole 3’ X 3’ X 4’ with 500 pounds of rotten rice. At 1830hrs LZ Liz Access Road bought 2 M-79 rounds and paid 2 accessory packs, they bought the rounds form 2 Vietnamese males age 7. At 2025hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Charlie 4 and Recon 1 for a total of 5 out. At LZ Liz alert by Red Star Cluster at 2240hrs, 100% achieved in 3 minutes, 2248hrs cease-fire called. At 2300hrs returned to 25% guard. Red Star Custer was fired from bunker 4, guard thought he saw movement proved non existent, Alert was satisfactory. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0915hrs 11 Brigade reports Convoy departed LZ Bronco for Chu Lai, 12 Vehicles, elements of Headquarters 11 Brigade and 1-20 Infantry Rear Area: and 6-11 Artillery departed LZ Bronco for Chu Lai, 11 vehicles and arrived at 1455hrs.

Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road Security. At 0350hrs Bravo Company LZ Liz Bunker Line inspected by LT Studdard, everything satisfactory and at 2240hrs LZ Liz Alert and ended at 2300hrs Alert rated Satisfactory.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0815hrs Charlie Company Command Post vicinity BS737415 bought 2 M79 rounds and 1 20mm cartridge, gave 4 babysons, 1 C Ration and 1 bar of soap. At 0928hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon Patrol is moving out to check area of sensor activities. At 1125hrs Charlie Company while on patrol 2nd Platoon heard voices directly to west, blocking fires were fired at grid BS708438. The Platoon then swept through the area where the voices were believed to be coming from and found fish traps and indications of approximately 6 unknown personnel bathing and fishing, and direction of evasion is unknown. At 1430hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon checked area where artillery was fired at BS716436, down trail BS710436 heard laughter at BS706438, checked area and found indications of 20 to 40 personnel on trail leading to mountains. At 1600hrs Charlie Company RF 172 vicinity BS755558 on day 171200 June found a booby trap 105 round with trip wire on trail, blew it in place, hole 3’ X 3’ X 4’ with 500 pounds of rotten rice. At 1606hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon reports they dusted off 1 personnel vicinity BS735417 by Primo 6 with infected hand, picked up 1300hrs Line #H306, Hines, Ronald E. At 2000hrs Charlie Company reports their locations Command Post and 3rd Platoon in Night Defense Position at BS735417 with 2nd Platoon at BS731431 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out.
Delta Company

Echo Company
June 17, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1840hrs Recon is moving off LZ Liz vicinity BS767413.
