Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0800hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Radar Targets at 1955hrs sighted 3 to 5 stationary personnel at BS730466 and engaged with 6 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar and at 2030hrs 6 to 8 stationary personnel were sighted at BS722451 and engaged with 12 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar. At 2120hrs the North OP sighted 3 to 4 stationary personnel with negative clearance and at 2205hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS789479 and engaged with 8 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm and Bravo Company informed. At 2300hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS809422 and engaged with 12 VT rounds of Artillery 155mm and Bravo Company informed and at 0100hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted at BS777488 and engaged with 14 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 0821hrs the TMF String 73, Target B, was activated by 3 personnel that where moving southwest at 3 miles per hour and confirmed by metal, with negative clearance because it is an unobserved target in the daylight hours. At 0910hrs M26- Delta Company Reference message on 15 June 1970, the rice cache was 4 tons, all in 1 location. It was under ground in a hole lined with plastic and covered with plastic. It was unpolished, new and in good condition, and locally grown. The rice has been evacuated to Nui Ong Do Outpost at grid BS760545. At 0917hrs Charlie Company the 32 element found 2 VC bodies, dressed in black pajamas partly buried at BS714483, they and been dead about a month. The bodies substantiate a report received form Mo Duc saying that Alpha Company had killed 2 additional VC in contact on 30 April 1970 which they could not find. At 1245hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC we request an Area of Operation extension in the Date/ time of 172400 to 2140000from grid BS720600 to BS700640 and northeast along the river to BS752695, the purpose is for combat operations. Delta Company will be in the area on 18 June 1970 and working with the 1-16 RF group Area of Operation B63 was approved by CPT Shay. At 1800hrs Delta Company 93 and Charlie Company 26 Engineer all elements are in their Night Defense.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road Security.
Bravo Company
June 17, 1970
At 2317hrs Bravo Company the 54 element received one incoming round of unknown size and believed to be a rocket. It came from the northeast into a grid BS789417. It damaged one bunker with one US slightly injured in the leg but not requiring a Dust Off for Line #26 (Harvey, Patrick). The 54 element checked out the bunker and found fragments and glass which will be brought to Liz. Bravo Company reports SGT Patrick Harvey with multiple frag wounds upper leg treated and released in field.
Charlie Company

At 0732hrs Charlie Company all elements are moving to their Day Logger. At 0850hrs Charlie Company the tracker team was extracted from the Charlie 13 element with negative results with the team. At 0917hrs Charlie Company the 32 element found 2 VC bodies, dressed in black pajamas partly buried at BS714483, they and been dead about a month. At 1430hrs all element have closed on our Day Logger at BS724489. At 1945hrs Charlie Company we are in our Night Defense Position at BS723487.
Delta Company

At 0715hrs Delta Company at BS728592, our Night Defense Position, we found 3 booby taps, pressure release, made of 3 quart cans and Petna for explosives. The Kit Carson Scout dug up two and the third had a M-16 cartridge for pressure device and would have taken quite a lot of pressure to detonate. Two others had homemade devices, 300 meters south of the Night Defense Position, we found a 60mm round booby trap. It had a trip wire and release and detonated by smoke grenade blasting devices with a diaper pin in the safety hole, all Booby Trap were destroyed in place. At 0910hrs M-26 to Delta Company Reference Rice Cache was four tons, all good condition and locally grown. The rice has been evacuated to Mai Ong Do Out post. At 0940hrs Delta Company requests an Urgent Dust Off for one female civilian with Multi Frag Wounds resulting from unknown causes. At 1005hrs Delta Company 93 the Charlie Company 26 Engineer have moved out to their new Day Logger in a westerly direction and at 1100hrs Delta Company and Charlie Company 26 Engineer reports we are in location at BS735597. At 1800hrs Delta 93 and Engineer all elements are in their Night Defense. At 1845hrs Delta Company requests a routine Dust Off for one US with temperature of 103.2, name Lamb, Martin Line #65L completed at 1907hrs. At 1950hrs Delta Company Command Post is in their Night Defense Position at BS722597. At 2330hrs Delta 56 element had a mechanical ambush go off at BS721594 and when the element went to check it out received a heavy volume of small arms fire to their north approximately about 30 to 40 meters, Delta Company the 56 element engaged with small arms fire contact broke contact at 2345hrs. In checking the area two NVA KIA, 2 AK-47, 2 US pistol belts, 2 packs (sand bag type) were found their about 25-30 and wearing khaki uniforms.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 4 for a total expended of 32 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0655hrs Recon Platoon all elements are in their preplanned location. At 1055hrs Recon Platoon we are on the Red Ball and ready for extraction. Recon Platoon returned to their Battalion Security Mission.
