Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0410hrs LZ Liz Alert call, due to accidental firing of a Red Star Cluster with the cease-fire was called at 0416hrs, Alert was terminated at 0421hrs Delta Company 100% at 0413hrs, 105 Artillery at 0413hrs and 155 Artillery at 0413hrs and Alert was rated satisfactory. At 0715hrs LZ Liz Access Road has been mine swept. At 2135hrs 1-20 Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 2, Charlie 1 and Recon 1 for a total of 4 out. Legend: 1st Platoon 81, 2nd Platoon 83, 3rd Platoon 59, 4th Platoon 88, CO-50.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1958hrs Alpha Company in their Night Defense Position Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS717427 and 1st Platoon at BS724445 with Mechanical Ambush and has 2 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company is at Chu Lai for their Stand Down.
Charlie Company
July 17, 1971
Charlie Company set up Patrol Base and conducts multiple patrols in their Area of Operation. At 1031hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon is moving to BS740413. At 1548hrs Minuteman 0 is on station for re supply. At 1619hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon is moving to BS667533. At 1715hrs Charlie Company reports 2nd Platoon and Command Post moving into Night Defense Position at BS663528 with one Mechanical Ambush out.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0630hrs Recon is returning to LZ Liz at this time and Recon has closed on LZ Liz at 0803hrs. At 0825hrs LZ Dragon called an Urgent Dust Off for 2 Vietnamese WIA, 1 had leg amputated, they hit mine at vicinity BS633542, Bird # 59 completed at 0915hrs Bird wasn’t contacted until 0902hrs At 1735hrs Recon is moving out to vicinity BS740426. At 2002hrs Recon has closed on their Night Defense Position at BS740426.
