Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0820hrs 1-20 Infantry S-2 Request 6 scout dogs to work with Alpha, Charlie and Delta Companies Pick up will be 1700hrs 17 July1968 will return at 0730hrs on 18 July 1968. Also request 6 scout dogs to work with Alpha. Charlie and Delta Companies on 18 July will be picked up at 0730hrs. At 0945hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC 6-11 Artillery at BS871321, a truck with the Quad 50 mounted in it hit a pressure detonated mine, negative casualties, truck had a tire blown off and fender blown off. Negative damage to Quad 50, estimated 25 pound charge, left crater 2’ wide and 1’ deep and will ground mount 50 until truck is repaired. At 2130hrs 1-20 Infantry Sa Huynh Radar spotted movement, fired artillery with negative assessment.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
July 17, 1968
Alpha Company continued their Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operation. At 1830hrs Alpha Company is moved into their Night Defense Position at BS819298 and with ambushes at BS806303, BS832302 and BS822287.
Bravo Company
July 17, 1968
Bravo Company (-) has the Security Mission for LZ Thunder.
Charlie Company
July 17, 1968
At 0808hrs Charlie Company located at BS755366 and at 1830hrs Charlie Company (-) is BS759368 with ambushes at BS761382, BS775375 and BS773364.
Delta Company
July 17, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. CPT Harold C. Maxson 3rd assumed command of Delta Company at LZ Charlie Brown at 1830hrs Delta Company (-) at LZ Charlie Brown with ambushes at BS894233 and BS894238. At 2130hrs 1-20 Infantry Sa Huynh Radar spotted movement, fired artillery with negative assessment.
Echo Company
July 17, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. Recon Platoon will continue to refit at LZ Bronco.
