Headquarters and Headquarter Company
December 17, 1968
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations ending their part of OPERATION VERNON LAKE II. 1-20 Infantry reports their Air Move to Mo Duc Area of Operation started at 0930hrs and was completed at 1730hrs. As the 1-20 Infantry Battalion set up their TOC location at LZ Liz and Bravo Company takes over the Security Mission. At 1330hrs 1-20 Infantry request Aerial Scouts on 19 December do a Visual Recon at 1400hrs.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. MSGT DALE ELWYN COLLYER was evac to 312th Evac Hospital with sick possible Heart problems (see January 9, 1969) now listed as KIA. At 0810hrs Bravo Company 39 Engineer at BS620826 found 15 pound mine with bamboo firing device blew in place and continued Mine Sweep. At 0940hrsBravo Company 39 Engineer at BS629828 detonated 10 pound mine with bamboo firing device, blew in place continued Mine Sweep. At 1010hrs Bravo Company 39 Engineer report culvert blown, crater 7’ X 2’, Road is passable to 2 lane traffic continued Mine Sweep will repair after Mine Sweep team is finished. At 1440hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer at BS719593, 1 Chieu Hoi to Charlie Company he was turned over to MACV team #2 personnel at LZ Snoopy.
Alpha Company

The 1st Battalion 20th Infantry was relieved and started their air movement back to the DUC PHO and MO DUC AREA OF OPERATION At 0838HRS and the movement was completed at 1717hrs. At 1000hrs Alpha Company moved from BS486606 to LZ Dragon PZ Time started 0838hrs to LZ Dragon and was finished at 0834hrs and have take over the Security Mission for LZ Dragon.
Bravo Company

1-20 Infantry: The Battalion was relieved and started air movement back to the DUC PHO and MO DUC Area of Operations. At 0838hrs the movement was completed at 1717hrs and the Battalion assumed responsibility of the DUC PHO and MO DUC Area of Operations. Bravo Company is air moved to LZ Liz and take over the Security Mission for the LZ Liz.
Charlie Company

The 1st Battalion 20th Infantry was relieved and started air movement back to the DUC PHO and MO DUC Area of Operations at 0838hrs. At 1936hrs Charlie Company Conducts a Combat Assault from BS486625 to LZ Dragon and Last LZ at 1035hrs 3 lifts.
Delta Company
December 17, 1968
Delta Company has the Security Mission for LZ Cork. The 1st Battalion 20th Infantry was relieved and started air movement back to the DUC PHO and MO DUC Area of Operations at 0838hrs. The movement was completed at 1717hrs. Delta Company is Air lifted to LZ Bronco to get ready for their Stand Down. At 1310hrs Delta conducts their air move from LZ Cork to LZ Bronco Completed at 1320hrs.
Echo Company
December 17, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Cork where Battalions Headquarters Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Cork. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Cork where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). At 1130hrs Recon Platoon is air moved from LZ Cork to LZ Dragon at 1142hrs. At 1851hrs Recon and Charlie Company conducts a Combat Assault from LZ Dragon to BS763573 LZ at 1637hrs. At 1925hrs Recon Platoon reports their Night Defense Position at BS760582.
