Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0410hrs PF 176 at BS816365, unknown size enemy force was ambush at above grid, resulting in 2 VC KIA 1 AK47 and 1 M-16 CIA. At 0413hrs Saber 40 is station for box 62 at 0455hrs, broke station at 0515hrs with negative findings. At 0630hrs Warlord 21 is on station for 1st Light Visual Recon. At 0655hrs Warlord 21 broke station with negative results. At 0810hrs MACV Mo Duc Urgent Dust Off for 1 RF with traumatic amputation of leg from mine, Dust Off 55 completed at 0825hrs vicinity BS742561. At 0825hrs To Charlie Company for 1-20 Infantry S-3 the following: 1. Move the 3rd Platoon west per guidance of Commander, 2. did the 2nd Platoon move after Commander visited last night? 3. Charlie Company Commander is to make up concepts plan of what he intends to do and will be picked up by LOH this AM. At 1826hrs to Delta Company from 1-20 Infantry the following: 1. Insure 1st element moves north to cover area vicinity BS6556 to BS6457 with ambushes. At 0830hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 2 is on station at this time and breaks station at 0930hrs. At 0930hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz Access Road is now open. At 1035hrs Warlord 21 is on station for APD Box 164. At 1015hrs MACV Mo Duc PF 153, 155 received heavy small arms fire from as estimated company of VC and are requesting gun ship vicinity BS753557. Shark 9 is on station at 1035hrs. Shark has expended in the area and broke station at 1115hrs, further results unknown. At 1140hrs MACV Mo Duc at 1015hrs PF Platoons 153-155 received fire from an estimated VC Company in Don Luong, they returned fire with 81mm mortar and organic weapons. Proceeded by Artillery and gun ships, under cover of gun ship the PF assaulted the hamlet and are searching the area at this time. Results: 3 VC KIA, 2 carbines CIA, 6 M-26 Hand Frag CIA, and 3 helmets CIA. At 1230hrs OP Wink, at BS699572, Recon Kit Carson Scout found a booby trap consisting of an 81mm round with Petna in the nose with a hand frag firing device. It had a trip wire across the trail that the ARVN used for getting water, 300 meters from the OP found the booby trap and it was blew in place. At 1-20 Infantry Sugar 4 is on station for re supply, tail #129. At 1946hrs Saber 40 is on station for grid BS732433, Saber 40 broke station at 2030hrs. At 2000hrs MACV Mo Duc at BS764475 request Urgent Dust Off for 3 Vietnamese civilians (children) with poisoning (2 convulsions) Bird 54 Dust Off completed at 2013hrs. At 2225hrs LATE Spot MACV Mo Duc at 1305hrs RF 937 on patrol hit a mine resulting in 2 RF WIA and 1 RF KIA, 1 M-16 destroyed vicinity BS784574. At 2225hrs Late Spot MACV Mo Duc at 0835hrs RF 716 while on a search and clear mission, killed 3 VC with negative friendly casualties. 1 KIA was male VC is on the district level cadre, 2 other VC KIA were female guerrillas, CIA unknown # of grenades and documents. The KIA were not US confirmed vicinity BS750550. Legend: 1st Platoon 39, 2nd Platoon 74, 3rd Platoon 31, 4th Platoon 57, CO-52.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

Charlie Company continued their multiple patrolling with some Day Ambushes with Multiple Night ambushes. At 0800hrs Charlie Company Command Post and 4th Platoon Patrol Base vicinity BS717417 and the 3rd Platoon is in Patrol Base vicinity BS738418 and 1st Platoon in Patrol Base at BS707411. At 0825hrs To Charlie Company for 1-20 Infantry S-3 following: 1. Move the 3rd Platoon west per guidance of Commander, 2. did 2nd Platoon move after Commander visited last night? 3. Delta Company

Delta Company started their patrolling and heading in direct of the low lands. At 0935hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon in their Patrol Base vicinity BS710436. At 1030rhs Delta Company 1st Platoon and 3rd Platoon in their Patrol Base vicinity BS654543 with 3rd Platoon patrol is moving out to vicinity BS658544. At 1130hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1 vicinity BS658544 and at 1153hrs closed on that position. At 1406hrs Delta Company Command Post, 4th and 2nd Platoons moving to Low Lands. At 1445hrs Delta Company spotted 1 NVA Flag flying vicinity BS677566 and Helix 37 is on station and checked it out. Clearance given to engage target engaged with negative secondary explosions. At 1905hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon and 1st Platoon is in the Night Defense Position at vicinity BS657543. At 0905hrs Delta Company Command Post, sighted and engaged 6-8 personnel moving northeast with packs and weapons at BS673542, engaged with 17 HE 81mm Mortars from OP Wink. Delta Company will check out a first light. At 2022hrs Delta Company reports their locations Command Post 2nd and 4th platoon at BS673552, the 3rd and 1st platoon at BS657543.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. Recon Platoon continued to remain on OP Wink to provide security for the TMF location.
