Headquarters and Headquarter Company
April 17, 1969

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1030hrs 1-20 Infantry PF and Civilians volunteer information at LZ Thunder suspected location of 30 NVA/VC dressed in green uniforms and boots also knew location of VC tunnel at BS879315. PF reported he heard that the VC were going to set up ambush on Highway 1 at BS970307 at 1500hrs 17 April 69, Company is going to take the informers and interpreter and put in field to try and find tunnels. At 1020hrs Alpha Company 19 Engineers at BS794406 wrecker going south on highway 1 hit 40-50 pound mine in center of road with 2 US WHA. Mine directed form 70 meters eastside of road wire was buried complete distance 2-5 days in ground crater 4 X 8 cross Dusted Off, EM and check and cleared the area. At 1145hrs Charlie Company at BS920150 on return of MSN Redd small arms sniper fire from eastside of the road with 1 US WIA Dust Off, and return fire with Artillery from Lowboy and 4.2 mm Mortar from LZ Charlie Brown. At 2035hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz OP observed 2 VC at BS713432 with packs moving west to east on 515 call 81mm, Quad 50 and artillery, also observed 2 VC vicinity BS764414 drive 2 stakes 4’ long and 10’ apart into the grounds, strung wire from stakes to behind a tree, fired 81mm mortar.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2245hrs LZ Bronco Defense spotted contact at BS853320.

Alpha Company
April 17, 1969

At 1840hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS772510 as Alpha Company continued to use Saturation Patrolling in the sweep and clear operations in their Area of Operation. At 1840hrs Alpha Company reports their locations Night Defense Position at BS772510 and 31 at BS935225.

Bravo Company
April 17, 1969

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder and at 0830hrs Bravo Company at BS876319 received information from PF and Civilian of a Platoon size NVA unit, same grid where Bravo Company 21 element was ambush and putting in 81mm fire in area. At 1410hrs Bravo 21 and 31 are located at BS881317 and at 1530hrs Bravo Company at BS881318 found 1 Chinese made rifle in tunnel Serial number #329254evac to LZ Liz. At 1840hrs Bravo Company is located at grid BS889321.

Charlie Company
April 17, 1969

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 1115hrs Charlie Company request Dust Off for 60 year old Vietnamese female with chest wounds completed at 1140hrs. At 1615hrs Charlie Company 21 is located at BS914263 and 51 at bridge 92 and 31 at bridge 93. At 2030hrs Charlie Company at BS912264 spot 3 sampans moving west to east put Artillery on it and 3 sampans sank. At 2045hrs Charlie Company at BS908267 spotted lights on red ball and called in artillery.

Delta Company
April 17, 1969

Delta Company continued their Security mission for LZ Liz. At 1600hrs Delta Company at BS790465 found in Icehouse 6000 rounds of Ammo investigated with Ville and they said they had negative knowledge. Delta Company 23 is on Bridge 124. At 1820hrs Delta Company locations 23 at Bridge 124, 24 at BS752436, 25 at BS754420, 51 at BS773445, 52 at BS775445, 53 at BS765427 and 54 at BS764423.

Echo Company
April 17, 1969

Echo Company headquarters is located at LZ Liz. The 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Charlie Brown, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the LZ Charlie Brown. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
