Headquarters and Headquarter Company
April 17, 1968
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at Nghia Hanh (BS616638) for OPERATION NORFOLK VICTORY. At 1700hrs 1-20 Infantry reports at BS615640 turned in through VIP program 12 57mm rounds, 9 Chi Com hand grenades, 1 RPG-2 rocket, 17 60mm rounds, 3 105mm rounds, 3 82mm rounds and 1 75mm round. At 1450hrs Echo Company 4.2 Platoon is air borne at 1450hrs and at 1700hrs complete extraction head to LZ Ross. Elements of the 196 Infantry Brigade are being their move to the north to Camp Evans today. Also 196 Infantry Convoy is leaving to Camp Evans departed LZ Baldy at 1408hrs.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
April 17, 1968
At 1000hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS605630. 1-20th Infantry informed all units were alerted for possible move north to LZ Ross, to Participated in Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA again and also for Alpha and Bravo Companies also prepared for a possible Combat Assault in the vicinity LZ Blue. Alpha Company is moving to a PZ at BS605630. At 1500hrs Alpha Company is located at BS602628.
Bravo Company
April 17, 1968
At 1000hrs Bravo Company is located at BS602632. At 1312hrs Bravo Company 1st PZ lift departed 0719hrs and their last lift at 1312hrs extraction is completed, as Bravo Company is on the move north back to OPCON to the 198th Light Infantry Brigade. At 1400hrs Bravo Company has taken over the Security Mission for LZ Ryder west of LZ Ross.
Charlie Company
April 17, 1968
At 1000hrs Charlie Company reports their location at BS580640. Charlie Company continued their Recon in Force move to their PZ for their air move north to the 198th Light Infantry Brigade and by 1500hrs they are located at BS584640 and setting up their Night Position which is near the PZ. At 2020hrs Charlie Company at BS588648, Charlie 1st Platoon at ambushes at BS585642 and 2nd Platoon ambush at BS578643.
Delta Company
April 17, 1968
Delta Company continued Sweep and Clear Operations of the area moving to a LZ area for re location and at 1000hrs their location at BS600679. At 1500hrs Delta Company is located at BS602679 and setting up their Defense Position.
Echo Company
April 17, 1968
Echo Company is located at Nghia Hanh where Battalion Forward is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear and S-4 section established the Rear Forward location. The 4.2 Mortar Platoon will continued their direction fire support for Battalion Operations. At 1400hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS607636.
