Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Dottie and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations. At 0645hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC report that Benh Son Bridge is washed out (report to Colonel Thomas) confirmed by 1-20 Infantry. At 0950hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports Command and Control Helicopter was checking area out and received automatic weapons fire believe ship took hit and while returning to LZ Dottie received more automatic weapons fire at BS590760. At 1117hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports Command and Control Helicopter at BS510785 with negative hits, continued to fly. At 0750hrs Mine Sweep team 19 Engineer at BS753499 team truck hit pressure mine 30 pounds results 2 US WIA Evac and 1 US KHA walking beside vehicle.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Dottie with roving patrolling in their (Area of Operation).
Bravo Company
October 16, 1971
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Buff. At 0200hrs Late Report At 2215hrs Bravo Company at BS538825 B 96 perimeter is being probed fired illumination observed 5 personnel with drawing from perimeter into wood line perimeter and other element put on 100% alert. Bravo Company at 1816hrs is at LZ Buff. At 1000hrs Bravo Company Patrol base moved to LZ Buff. At 1258hrs Bravo Company at BS515840 went into a small village at above location detain 5 VCS will evac to LZ Dottie. At 1602hrs Bravo at BS520883 has spotted 2 VC going northwest tried to stop them results 2 VC KIA negative documents or weapons, dress in black PJ. Bravo Company 40 element is running a roving patrol. SGT Charles H. Hutto was attached to the 312th Evac Hospital sick at 0800hrs.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company at 0830hrs is using saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation center of mass is BS525771. At 0928hrs Charlie Company is at BS508780 while crossing stream received automatic fire and sniper fire returned fire negative assessment or casualties. At 1009hrs Charlie Company center of mass is now at BS510784 and by 1145hrs Charlie Company is at BS515787 received sniper fire results 1 US WHA (E). Charlie Company returned fire with negative assessment. Wound in wrist Dust Off can not get in now because of the weather will notify when Dust Off Completed. At 1530hrs Charlie Company at BS515805 received automatic weapon fire 1 US WHA (E) gunshot. Dust Off was completed at 1900hrs Charlie Company will join Delta Company in their Night Defense Position at BS515805. SP4 Dennis W. Bunning with gunshot wound evac to 312 Evac Hospital.
Delta Company

At 0830hrs Delta Company in using saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation and their center of mass is BS525765 and are working to BS510760. At 1805hrs Charlie Company and Delta Company are in their Night Defense Position at BS515805.
Echo Company
October 16, 1971
Echo Company is located at LZ Dottie where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Dottie. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Dottie where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry Battalion). Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Dottie.
