Headquarters and Headquarter Company
November 16, 1970

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0815hrs Brigade 26 Engineer will be pulling the 38 Brigade out, will be out approximately 1 hour. At 1200hrs 1-20 Infantry request Area of Operation extension Date/Time/Grid 171200hrs to 272400hrs from November 1970 BS741390 to BS700390 to BS700426, for purpose Combat Operations of Recon Platoon was disapproved by MAJ Frakes. At 1300hrs 1-20 Infantry at approximately 1145hrs at Bunker 43 vicinity BS821379, spotted 3 enemies in the inner most wire. They were engaged with M-79 and results the enemy evaded and hide in the weeds. Patrol was formed and swept the area. They captured all 3, 2 were slightly wounded and treated at the aid station, turned them over to POW Camp at LZ Bronco. The oldest was 24 and had 2 ID, dressed in Khaki shirt, blue bottoms, 2 other were wearing Khaki shirts and 1 had red shorts and the other unknown, both had negative ID and Battalion XO thinks they were trying to steal anything they could. At 1555hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Dolphin 21 is on station for resupply and at 1650hrs after completing partial resupply. At 2000hrs Brigade Area of Operation extension requests for 4-21 Infantry Date/Time/Grid 170600hrs to 171800hrs November 1970 Grid BS740385 to BS7935 to BS760304 to BS7133, approved THL. Legend 1st Platoon 12-18, 2nd Platoon 62-68, 3rd Platoon 82-88, 4th Platoon 32-38 and CO 44.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

 

Alpha Company
November 16, 1970

At 0640hrs 82 closed with Alpha Company Night Defense Position all ambush closed. Alpha Company set up Patrol base and will use Saturation Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1845hrs Alpha Company 82 element in Night Defense Position at BS756613, the 87 ambush in location at BS758618, Command Post BS760600, 14 at BS760606, 64 at BS768599, the 62 element at BS765599, 65 at BS767602, and at 1855hrs the 87 ambush in location at BS758618.

 

Bravo Company
November 16, 1970

Bravo Company detained 1 male age 45, wearing while and maroon, last name Chuan, had roll of fishing wire on him, will send in on back haul. 3rd Platoon requests 1 urgent Dust Off for 1 US who received wounds when a dog detonated a Mechanical Ambush had frag wounds to the back of the head. At Bravo Company at 765563, Priority Dust Off for Kit Carson Scout with possible Malaria, tem; of 103, man was extracted by resupply Bird at 1630hrs. The 3rd Platoon took 1 sniper round from 300 meters injuring 1 pack in the hip, returned fire and checking the area with negative finding. The Command Post element took 2 M-79 rounds and 2 hand frag inside the perimeter with negative damage or injuries. 1 US wounded in the back of head and multiple frag wounds on back (Non Battle Casualties) SP4 Ronald Reaves evac to B 23 Medical and PFC JAMES FRANCIS RILEY IS LISTED AS KHA DOW evac to Duc Pho GRP COD guns shot wound lower left back and hip and broken pelvis.

 

Charlie Company
November 16, 1970

Charlie Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz.

 

Delta Company
November 16, 1970

Delta Company continued to multiple patrolling their Area of Operation. At 1346hrs Delta Company 16 patrol is moving out for BS657572. At 1351hrs Delta Company 66 element is moving out for BS659564, the 65 element has hit checkpoint 1 at BS659564 and the 66 element is at checkpoint 2 at BS660562. Delta Company had closed with the Command Post in their Night Defense Position at BS679571, the 85 element BS676567 and the 14 element BS684572.

 

Echo Company
November 16, 1970

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1200hrs Recon Platoon has closed on LZ Liz. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
