Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0215hrs 1-20 Infantry be prepared to move to BS7753 on DATE/TIME 160600hrs May 1970 to reinforce the reaction force. It will be in effect all day and move at 05 minutes notice. Leave the Flame track, service and Romeo in the present stay behind locations. At 0445hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Radar targets sighted 20 to 30 stationary personnel at BS738583 fired 28 HE of Artillery 105mm were expended. At 2040hrs 6 to 7 stationary personnel were sighted at BS814470 engaged with 12 HE of Artillery 105mm and at 2250hrs 6 to 7 stationary personnel were sighted at BS800502 and engaged with 14 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 2250hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted at BS79469 and engaged with 32 HE of Artillery 105mm and at 0145hrs radar sighted 3 to 5 stationary personnel at BS763517 were engaged with 10 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 0555hrs Flame tracks we are in location at BS832442. At 0610hrs MACV we are moving to link up with the Recon Platoon. At 0611hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry we are moving to our blocking position from BS774514 to 774519 and at 0655hrs reports we have closed on position. At 0935hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry a total of 4 rounds of mortar fire (1 was a dud) were received in last night mortar attack. At 0950hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC number of personnel on LZ Liz. The South OP has 9 Artillery and 13 Infantry, permanent personnel is 100, the Rife Company has 106, the north OP has 8 and Artillery 84. At 1000hrs Flame tracks we have negative situation report, no change in location we have an OP approximately 100 meters east and will be moving in 15 to 20 minutes. At 1050hrs Flame Tracks our Night Defense Position for tonight will be at BS828439 and tomorrow we will work north to the 44 gridline. At 1101hrs Charlie Company 26 engineer we had a dossier at BS766510 hit an antipersonnel type booby trap with negative damage. At 1140hrs MACV Mo Duc there is a minefield between grid BS772525 and BS772518, 100 meters east and west between these two grids. Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry we received 20 to 30 rounds of AK 47 fire, from the southwest at 200 to 300 meters. We did not see any person, did not return the fire or check out the area, we had negative damage or casualties at grid BS764517 and out proposed Night Defense Position is at BS788524. At 1200hrs Blue Ghost at BS658508 sighted a large bunker, at BS660503 a well camouflaged hootch, at BS755525 fresh grave and well used bunker was sighted at BS662519. We observed a bunker and tunnel complex at BS662519, we engaged 1 NVA resulting is 1 NVA KIA with no weapon. At 1255hrs E Troop the 74 element is moving to BS823439 and the 79 element will stay at the Day Logger. We have 1 track down due to a defective pressure system. At 1330hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry we request an urgent Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese child with frag wounds to the head, legs and back from a booby trap of unknown type was completed at 1338hrs. At 1410hrs MAVC we request an urgent Dust Off for 1 RF with frag wounds to the legs due to a booby trap with a pressure type firing device. We had 1 RF KIA also completed at 1418hrs grid BS792419. At 1630hrs Tracks we are moving to highway 1. At 1725hrs E Troop we released E Troop from OPCON status and they are at the railroad berm at the 169 PF compound. At 1800hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry and the 26 engineer we are in our Night Defense Position at BS794525. At 1810hrs MACV at 1800hrs we took 4 incoming 60mm mortars from BS765550 to BS760448, 200 meters to the northwest resulting in 1 US WIA and 2 Vietnamese WIA at grid BS769531, completed at 1821hrs. At 1930hrs MACV at 1415hrs a Rome Plow detonated an anti personnel mine approximately 8 oz with negative casualties or damage at grid BS769519. At 2155hrs Radar at 2115hrs spotted 6 to 10 stationary personnel at BS779412 with Bravo Company informed and at 2135hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted at BS791420 and Bravo Company was informed. At 2145hrs 15 to 20 stationary personnel were sighted at BS768515 with Recon being informed.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0745hrs Alpha Company the access road patrols is closing, the 57 element Security Patrol is moving out and the 36 element is closing on LZ Liz. At 2030hrs Alpha Company 36 is at BS760435 to BS776439 and the 77 element is moving to BS766435.
Bravo Company

At 0601hrs Bravo Company the 56 element is leaving their snakes location on their patrol to BS767469 and remainder of elements will be using multiple patrolling, Day Loggers and working with PF units in their Area of Operation. At 1545hrs Bravo Company 54 element is moving to their blocking position from BS795470 to BS792478. At 1655hrs Bravo Company the 58 element hit a booby trap at BS775461 we had one PF WIA with frag wounds to the legs. It was a pressure type firing device on a 60mm round, completed at 1708hrs. Prior to hitting the booby trap the 58 element spotted and engaged at 10 VC with no weapons, the VC evaded to the north. We found 4 Chi Com blasting caps, a US ammo can full of medical supplies (scissors, bandages, needles and etc.), an ID for 33 year old female, documents and 3 Vietnamese males detained 17, 21 and 41, and wearing blue. They were in the area of the booby trap. The PF say one of the detainees is VC and was dressed in a ARVN green uniform and carrying a M-16 and we will send them to MACV. At 2117hrs Bravo Company the RF from the 169 compound sprung their ambush on 7 VC who walked into their snake location. The RF engaged with small arms approximately 6 to 10 meters away and believed they evaded southwest to OD Lake. We called in Illumination and in checking area we found 1 VC KIA, 1 AK 47 with one magazine and also 1 Chi Com grenade CIA at grid BS802378. The RF and US troops went out as a reaction force to check the area with negative results.
Charlie Company

At 0625hrs Charlie Company 38 and 57 elements area moving to their Day Loggers and closed with negative findings at 0650hrs. At 0810hrs Charlie Company the 56 element day logger is at BS738422. At 1810hrs Charlie Company are moving out to our Night Defense Position at BS764383. At 2025hrs Charlie Company the 58 element is at BS719403, the 59 element is at BS772369, 36 is at BS750386, the 38 is at BS754398, 56 is at BS732398, 34 at BS776396 and the 78 is at BS766364.
Delta Company

At 0500hrs Delta Company the 74 element is in their Day Logger at BS731163 and the 54 element is in location with at Cordon and Search operation on Ville at BS756469. At 0556hrs Delta Company the 54 element is in location to cordon the Ville at BS756457. At 0705hrs the 54 element has closed their operation with negative and the 34 and 74 elements have also closed with negative finding. At 0730hrs Delta Company 34 Day Logger at BS734448, 54 element Day logger at BS757459 and 74 is at BS734454 and that will be 39 and 94 Night Defense Position later. At 1955hrs Delta Company the Command Post is in their Night Defense Position at BS744457, the 34 snake is at BS735448, the 35 snake is at BS729449 an the 36 snake is at BS741451, and by 2014hrs Delta Company other multiple snakes are now in position.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports 4.2 Platoon reports no expenditures and has 389 HE, 118 WP, 96 illumination rounds and 80 C/S on hand. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0400hrs Recon we are moving to BS774507 to BS7745143. At 0602hrs Recon Platoon we are in our block position and have linked up with no other elements at grid BS774514. At 0610hrs MACV we are moving to link up with the Recon Platoon. At 1100hrs Recon Platoon our snake location will be at 55 at BS772515, 54 at BS774510 and 55 at BS763507. At 1127hrs Recon Platoon we spotted 2 VC dressed in green, 1 male and 1 female at BS773511. They were 50 meters from our location and we sent out a patrol and found 1 VC male KIA with no weapon and a green type uniform. He had a small amount of food on him, it was as a result of contact this morning and we are checking the area for the 2 personnel who evaded to the north. At 1950hrs Recon all snake are in location the 53 snake at BS772515, the 54 snake at BS774510 and the 55 snake at BS760507.
